Bertrem also has to wait for a clear chance at the humanoid as Cugel and Rondo pretty much take up the hallway between them.

Despite being double-teamed from Rondo and Cugel, the humanoid manages to hold its own. It catches Rondo's axe with its shield and deflects Cugel's sword with its mace. Si'Nat's arrow again flies wide.

Third Round

Cugel fails to get his sword up in time but throws himself back a bit as the mace comes in for a return blow and strikes a glancing blow on his chest. Cugel's return swing is weak and easily blocked. Rondo is knocked slightly off-balance and his axe swings wide. Si'Nat's arrow flies wide again.

Fourth Round

You have a feeling this might take a while. The humanoid dodges Rondo's axe while successfully fending off Cugel AND dodging Si'Nat's arrows. Fortunately, it's not that great of a maceman as it continually misses chances to smash Cugel.

Fifth Round

Somehow everyone gets their act together. Cugel accepts a hit with the mace to deal one of his own while Rondo's axe catches it in the back and Si'Nat's arrow strikes its leg. Overwhelmed, the humanoid collapses to the ground.

"Finally! Now, let's tie those sleeping ones up an get out of this hallway!"

*Rondo looks into the room the humanoids came out from, to see if there's anyone else in there. If the coast is clear we'll move the sleepers and the dead ones in there, and question them while we check the room out.*

"Whew... it's a good thing we didn't have more of them to fend off. Good Job."

Patrick looks in the room with Rondo.

After surveying the room (and hoping there are no traps in the entryway), Patrick starts dragging bodies into the room. Also I remove the hood from them, so we can see them for what they are... making sure to examine their features in case of mixed ancestry...

**Here's what we see in the room - per Mr DM...**

**You see a 20 foot square room with the door in the upper 10 feet of the west wall. It looks like a storeroom - there are shelves on the east wall that are filled with large sacks and the south wall has about a dozen barrels stacked against it. The room looks empty of any more of the robed guys though. **

After we get more "situated"... I'll inspect the sacks and barrels to determine their contents... Now that both spellcasters have cast their magic, we may want to rest...

"Rondo, one question you should as when interrogating is who 'they' worship..."

Will remain quiet during the interrogation, unless one of the "prisoners" lies about the diety they worship, then he will correct them, sneeringly!

Also will inspect the party to see if anyone needs his healing services.

Cugel sheathed his sword, grunting, and holding his chest, but just a little, of course.

"Well, that was not quite what I had in mind. Oh well, can anyone identify who are new companions are?"

[DarthFerret: It's spelled D-E-I-T-Y]

After placing the bodies, sleeping and dead ones alike, in the room, Patrick down their hoods (they're attached to the robe). Definite human features are revealed.

Bertrem's inspection of the party reveals Rondo's wound from the skeleton encounter (not too bad) and Cugel's just acquired wound (somewhat serious).

(Still not clear who is doing the questioning and what is being asked)

After rummaging around the room, "The sacks contain Grain... The barrels a 'Dark Liquid'."

**Does the liquid have a 'smell'? Dip a dagger into it, what color/density is it?**

**I guess I could interrogate, I just figured that we had a "speaker" for the party... And I think it would be better for one person to ask the questions than everyone shouting them out...**

"I'm needing some sacks right about now... so I'm going to have to dump out some of that grain..."

*Walks over to dump out 2 sacks of grain and put the bags into his pack...*

*As soon as he's done with that he makes sure all the maces and shields are piled up in a corner... picking the best mace to stick in his pack..."

Patrick sniffs the barrels/liquid and dips a dagger in one, while Si'Nat, scavenger that he is, empties two sacks leaving a pile of grain on the floor, and stuffs them and a mace in his pack.

A large sack holds about 600 coins, BTW.

Bertrem will pray to his DEITY for healing for Cudgel. Afterwards, will ask the interogator (not me) to question about the deity whose symbol they wear . (It is an evil deity.)

** Happy now oversoul....??**

"Whew! this stuff seems strong... Anyone up for a drink? I'll buy! The liquid in here is a potent potable..."

"Hmm... grain, and alcohol... could we make something useful out of that?"

"I also suggest we remove the cloaks from these guys, a 'disguise' may be in order.... and 4 of them should be in great condition - at least not sliced up from battle."

"Aye...Good thinking about the cloaks Patrick...too bad I hit that one guy so hard...;)

"These guys are human, so if you'd question 'em I'd appreciate it Patrick. I'm gonna see about locking this door so we can get some rest here. Oh, and I'll take a swig of that draught."

*I thought D&D 1st level clerics didn't get any spells...*

**TomB** they dont, but they still have some training in some of the non-mystical healing arts, possibly preventing infection, or the spread of poison. If nothing else, at least boosting morale by attempting to show concern for the wounded...(yeah, like you believe that last one...lol)

"Before we wake one of them... I think we should isolate them a bit... They may talk more if they don't think they are doing it in front of one of their own... Anyone have any specific questions you want asked? Other than Deity?" ** (or is it diety?) :D **

"I think we should find out how many there are... who their leader is... how many levels (floors) there are - and where the leaders usually are... What they were doing in this room, to see if they are expected somewhere and will be missed..." ** Spidey, while I know it would take more time... I'd really like to isolate them, and ask them one at a time... then use what we know from one to try to get more out of the others... at knife-point if necessary... ** "We can put the others in the kobold room... gagged and blindfolded..."

"That is an excellent idea, Patrick. All right, who wants to assist me in moving them into the other room?"
