Patrick holds his torch higher, hoping to get a glimpse of their faces - or see if they recoil from the light... But says nothing yet... At the first sign of a threat (ie drawn weapons or spellcasting), I will begin to cast my spell on them (oddly enough the same as Si'Nat uses)....
** Are they the same height as those humanoids we just faced, or taller? **

They have human features, but no visible reaction to the light (in fact, they're carrying a couple of torches themselves - forgot about that). They're "average" human height (i.e. none noticably as short as a halfling, dwarf, or the humanoids you faced).

Keeps to the rear of the party, making sure his holy symbol is clearly revealed, one hand on the haft of his mace, the other gripping his shield tightly, ready to pounce at the sign of any danger (or malevolent rats!).

Patrick casts his spell and 3 of them slump to the ground: the two in the first rank and the last one in the back, leaving the 2 in the middle rank.
Cugel "pounces" on one of the remaining humanoids but it sidesteps the "pounce"

Rondo charges and with a massive swipe of his battleaxe, pretty much cleaves the other upright humanoid in two. Blood and gristle splatter him, Cugel, and the humanoid next to it.
Si'Nat's arrow flies wide and shatters on a wall.
Devin growls in frustration as he is unable to get to the remaining humanoid with Cugel and Rondo in the way.
The humanoid's return swing at Cugel swings harmlessly by.

Patrick starts to make his way to the front (avoiding the final battle - waiting for it to end and get's ready to tie up the newest "prisoners" who definately speak common... of course we need to be careful because they could be spellcasters...
"We can take them into the other room easilly enough... we'll need to see what else is in this room they just left I suppose first."
