I think the possibility of having a turn one 3/1 fear is pretty good..

but perhaps, as an uncommon, it should be 3/2

I just feel that all the Landcast:1 cards should be common, but something with landcast:2 should be uncommon. And, "free" first turn creatures are rarely common (;))

But it's not free.... it could really kill the tempo of any deck, but an uncommon is fine with me.

I know I have been out of it for a while, however, my 2 cents are as follows:

Leave it a 3/1 and make it Uncommon. Everyone always talks about the "crap rares", but rarely do the mention the "Crap Uncommons". Now we have one! :)

By the way, does it lose the counter when it comes back as a creature? Should that be stated (either way) in the text?

No reason for it to lose the counter, I'm pretty sure that the counter stays.

212.1b. When an object’s type changes, the new type(s) replaces any existing types. Counters, effects, and damage affecting the object remain with it, even if they are meaningless to the new type. Similarly, when the subtypes of one of an object’s types change, the new subtype(s) replaces any existing subtypes of that type. If an object’s type is removed, the subtypes of its old type don’t exist in any way under the new type. Those subtypes disappear completely for the entire time the object’s type is removed. Removing an object’s subtype doesn’t affect its types at all.

It keeps the counter (it was intended that way)

The text needs some work..

Whenever King Stirge deals combat damage to a player, put a +1/+1 counter on it, King Stirge becomes an Aura enchantment with enchant opponent and "At the beginning of enchanted player's upkeep, that player loses 1 life."

As enchanted player leaves game, King Stirge loses this ability and becomes a creature.

Hmm.. this is very strange.

How about this?

At the beginning of your upkeep, all players that have been damaged by King Stirge this game lose 1 life.
Whenever King Stirge deals combat damage to a player, put a +1/+1 counter on it and King Stirge becomes an Aura enchantment with enchant opponent attached to that player until that player leaves the game.

Yes, keeping the counter was intended.

How about this?
