(Question on Rules info...

Clerics

XP Needed per Level: 1500
1 first level spell at level 2
2 first level spells (total) at level 3

Turning Effects (need the number or greater on a 2d6)

Level 1: Skeletons: 7, Zombies: 9, Ghouls: 11, Wights and Wraiths: no effect
Level 2: Skeletons: T, Zombies: 7, Ghouls: 9, Wights: 11, Wraiths: no effect
Level 3: Skeletons: T, Zombies: T, Ghouls: 7, Wights: 9, Wraiths: 11

T means automatic Turn of 2d6 Hit Die (HD) worth of undead (and always at least one undead no matter what HD). If a mixed group of undead, the lesser HD undead is turned first.)

Wouldn't there be an automatic turn of at least 2 undead no matter what? It's a minimum of 1 rolled on each die - totaling 2. Or is there somehwere that a die isn't rolled, and that is the minimum of 1?

You always turn at least one undead, no matter what its HD. If there's more than 1 undead, you still roll the 2d6 to see how many more you affect, but the one automatic is counted in that roll.

So if automatically turn zombies (HD 2) and you encounter 2 and roll a 3, you automatically turn 1 no matter what but didn't roll enough to turn both (needed a 4).

*The rest of us take up guarding positions on either side of the door, watching the corridor both ways.*

speaks in his soft voice: "I will take point again..."

After everyone is in position and ready, Karnage readies his sword and opens the door...

<Well, in case anyone was wondering, I didn't detect any traps or anything on the door. But I guess that Karnage is already determining whether I was right about that...>

This is a vast room. So vast that your torches cannot reach to the ends of it to determine the dimensions right away (I should have been doing that with those other big rooms above this one). However, just at the edges of the torchlight towards the center of the room, you can make out what appears to be seated figures and a shadowy, faint large table.

(I'm going to go ahead and get the bow ready - I'll hold the arrow, not knock it just yet... Since I should be fast enough to do that if need be...)

"So you guys planned dinner huh? Sorry we're late..."

*I believe all of us with ranged weapons are ready to shoot...Didn't one of our guys (Patrick maybe?) put on one of those acolyte outfits? This might be a good time to use the disguise...;)*

I will hang back until the ranged volley is complete, then wade into battle, unless they appear to be undead (highly unlikely if they are eating) then will turn.

If anything unusual occurs might change my mind about my course of action.

As Karnage has no long ranged weapon, he pulls up Beleg-Drauganca into a defensive position and gets ready to block *Or step into if he can not block* any long ranged attack on him or his allies.

Cugel approached the seated figures cautiously, waiting for a response. "Greetings. I'm looking for a friend of mine. You might be acquainted with him..."

Bertrem prepares to spring to Cugel's aid. Mace ready and shield up.

(Just to be clear, the table and figures is roughly 30 feet away (as far as torchlight can go) towards the center of the room. Is anyone actually going with Cugel that 30 feet or is everyone staying back near the door, providing ranged coverage? It's hard to tell with Karnage and Bertrem)

*lol! Let me just confirm it for me. I will protect all of the party in danger, and since he is moving towards the table, he is in more danger than anyone else. So I move close by him and prepare to block or take the hit myself.*

I will walk with him... (is their a hood on their cloak I'm wearing? If so it is up), My hands are behind my back and I am going to gauge their response, readying my sleep spell once in range.

**To clarify... I'm not casting Sleep unless it appears the jig is up... I'm hoping for "surprise"**

(I'm staying at ranged distance, but flanking right so I have a clear shot if needed...)

"I'll just tipsy this way a bit... don't you guys think it weird there was no response to our entering the room, or the torch light, or me talking... maybe these bodies are just that... bodies... or maybe even skeletons... Whatever you do - watch your step on the floor for triggers to a trap or otherwise..."

(starts moving right...)

Will move up and join Karnage in watching Cugels back, one hand on my mace, the other clutching my holy symbol, ready to turn at a moments notice.
