Breaking Upwelling

I've been wanting to break this card in multiplayer for a LONG time. Heres what I came up with:

4x Upwelling
4x StP
4x Living Wish
3x Doubling Cube
1x Enlightened Tutor

4x Birds of Paradise
4x Llanowar Elves
4x Vine Trellis

3x Seedborn Muse
3x Viridian Zealot
3x Genesis

4x Fanning the Flames

4x Windswept Heath
4x Brushland (I don't own Savannahs)
3x Wooded Foothills
4x Forest
3x Plains
2x Plateau

Wishboard:
2x Cinder Elemental
2x Eternal Witness
1x Silklash Spider
1x Genesis
1x Seedborn Muse
1x Viridian Zealot
1x Akroma
1x Mageta the Lion
1x Eternal Dragon
1x Serra Avatar
(something else?)


Basically the object of this deck is to build up a lot of mana with Upwelling and throw a giant fireball at your opponent's head. Most of the cards help you build up mana (Seedborn Muse, Mana Elves), protect yourself (Zealot, Trellis, Muse), or provide a mana sink (Fanning the Flames, Cinder Elemental, Silklash Spider). Eternal Witness, in combination with Genesis and suicidal attacks, allows you to reuse Living Wish. I wanted to work Mirari's Wake in here, but I couldn't find anything to cut. I think Doubling Cube does a better job.

You need to protect your upwellings, if some one bursts your bubble too early, you could be eating tons of burn.

Some Sterling Grove will help as it both protects and tutors.

....since you are playing the colors

I'd also look at some form of spell recursion as this is mp - gaea's blessing maybe?...

and you could easily turn mana into life if needed with streams of life...

and for creatures in MP... your missing a real obvious one... (well - to me since I love Urza's block)

False Prophet...

takes the place of many a swords - and the opponent gets no life...;)

Those are all blue (X draw), and I can't afford to make this 4 colors (splashing red for Fanning the Flames and Cinder Elemental). I cut the Doubling Cubes for Sterling Groves. Doubling Cubes were overkill.

Soldevi Sentry (?) and Dragon Engine are nice too. Correct me if I'm wrong, but can you deck an opponent with infinite mana and a Sentry? I'm not too sure about the timing of Regenerate or if it could be used multiple times without provocation.

Also: Flailing Soldier/Masticore/Ogre work quite nicely.

You can't really deck an opponent.

"Target opponent may draw a card"

It still makes a good mana sink.;)
