Maybe this is intentional, but the alternate cc of your guy isn't very balanced (to say the least :) ) I mean, when would you pay the real cc? If you really want it to be balanced, I'm thinking it should be you who gains the poison counters. Of course, if this is just a "I win" card, that's...

It's probably easier to wait and setup in MP than a single-player game. The guy was trying a whole bunch of the new 5th Dawn artifacts to try to get them out - it was more experimentation than anything else. Besides that Elf, he had that artifact where you put on counters for 2 and could take...

Well, usually "sacrificing" is an action done by the controller, so unless you Donate or exchange it, the clause really only prevents you from doing stuff with it that involves sacrificing (like Altar of Dementia). Alot of combos rely on saccing your permanents, so this could actually be good... :)

Well yeah, but I would think he'd want to try to do well in the tourney and then sightsee if he got knocked out. I mean, if you're playing an all-land deck, why not just drop out when you get there (rating implications aside)?

<shrug> I disagree. Like I said, I think he plays pretty regularly, just not in a tourney setting. Which shouldn't disqualify him from writing about Type 1. Maybe I'm wrong - only way to know is to ask him what his credentials are.
