How has my behavior been at all odd? I've been acting completely in accord with the King's Code of Behavior Concerning the Census, which I'm sure all of you as loyal subjects are aware of. Given these shocking accusations against my person, I'm going to speak for a moment, not as an official of the Crown, but for myself. I can't believe that good hard working folk would be so quick to defend a yellow-bellied coward who runs from his livelihood at the first sign of trouble. If you want to talk about odd behavior, look no further than Spiderman. All he has to do is "leave" and then he can continue feasting on all of you, but you'll have no chance to hang him during the day time. Well, I'll be damned if I let that happen.

I'm sorry Mr. sageridder, but by your logic no one should ever accuse anyone, then we'd all be eaten by the Werewolf and we'd have no chance of solving this problem. Look at the facts, why would an actual Werewolf put his neck out by accusing someone? Delay and not hanging anybody only helps the wolf. The normal rules of polite society cannot hold sway when werewolves walk amongst us.

Well I recon a wolf might put his neck out so he could make the argument you just did. All that fancy talk of logics an such ain't impressin me much. I might not be all book learned like you, but I ain't no dat blamed fool niether.
I certainly never called you a fool, but you certainly will look foolish when I am hanged and the killings don't stop. I hope you think back over my words carefully when I am dead, for I'm expecting you to kill the werewolf right away. This is very important because I'm going to have to do my Census figures now and then send them to the Crown, and I'm just going to have to guess who lives and who dies. The King will be doubly displeased if His Census taker has been killed AND his Census figures are inaccurate.

Melkor makes some good points about a wolf not wanting to bring attention to himself, but I personally don't like the idea of being around them, so anyone trying to force someone to be here is suspicious in my book.
Personally, I've watched enough Scooby Doo to think that perhaps a big Mother Lode's up ahead and someone is trying to scare us out of finding it. If I had to guess right now, I'd say DarthFerret himself is going to be dressing up as a wolf just to scare us off and that "body" will be missing by morning.

Doesn't anyone here understand the rules and regulations on Werewolf quarantines? If a werewolf is discovered, no one can leave because we need to catch the werewolf and the only way to do that is hang somebody everyday. People who try to leave are suspicious because they are trying to avoid the only possible mechanism of catching werewolves.

Ok, the noose is on your neck, do you have any last words Melkor?
You have flouted the laws of our land, showed your lack of patriotism, your small-minded provincialism, but worst of all, you have failed to catch a werewolf. It was quite clear to anyone with a smidgen of logic and insight that I was not the werewolf. Still, you sided against me and with the cowardly people who did not wish to catch the monster. All this is important, but the most important thing is that His Majesty's Census is recorded and accurate. I charge Ransac with this task in the name of the King. Use those running instincts for something useful and deliver these documents to the Chancellor in our glorious capitol.

Without any further ado, the box is knocked out from beneath Melkor's feet, and he stretches...a long moment passes,....another long moment passes....and yet, all that you can see is a dead census taker, swinging from the end of the rope.

I find it interesting that out of the two of us who wanted to flee, our late census taker chose me and not Ransac to accuse as a werewolf. I'm still outta here, as there's still a werewolf loose, but I think the true werewolf escaped too easily and lay under the radar since it became either Melkor or I very quickly.
