the deed's ability can be used as an instant though, so train could've popped the deed before I tapped the lands to play my angel, for argument's sake we'll say that train played the deed and popped it on the pre-combat main phase, and I played my angel on the post-combat main phase.

Whoever posts first.... in RL, you can tell your partner to hold up for a second... so it made your barbs play, and trains Deeds play legit.

Az - Actually, you can't respond to mana tapping... so he couldn't have prevented it using deed in response...

The turns aren't simultaneous...

It's kind of like a caterpillar - when one end moves the other has to, but doesn't do it at the same time...

oh that wasn't what I was trying to say, although now I see it kind of read that way, what I meant was what train could've used the ability before I played the angel, not in response to the tapping of mana. like what you said, IRL he'd have told me to hold on and blew the deed before I played the angel.
