Played this deck on Wednesday. Although I lost as usual, it was a funny game. This was the second actual game of Magic for one of the players, who brought a precon (he had prior experience with other trading card games). Since it was mentioned that this player was new and that a deck that was too powerful might be a bad experience for this player, I switched from my untested Grub deck to this one before the game.
My first thought was, "This deck is super-low power. It'll be fine."
And then my second thought was, "Oh, but this deck uses a lot of banding and some other old mechanics. The new player won't know any of those and they'll all require explanation."
But my third thought was, "It's OK, the new player is sitting across the table from a former tournament judge. She'll have to explain everything and that will save me the trouble. This is great."
That isn't why I was killed in the game. At least, I think it wasn't.
