And in a move that would end the game (since Captain Flint would be moved to his starting island), Limited places his 3 on Island 8, only to have it blown to smithereens by the bomb that DarthFerret had previously planted.

Since the bomb doesn't actually stay face-up, Captain Flint stays right where he is and the game continues with sageridder's turn...

Also as a rules note, the pirate will only move when a card is flipped face-up, so setting a face-down card on island 8 at this point will likewise not cause him to move. DarthFerret's play has effectively demonstrated how a well-placed bomb can pontentially protect his investment and even keep the game from ending prematurely. I don't know if that was his intent, but well-played regardless.

Turgy's 2 is revealed and Ben Gunn moves on to Island #2. Hmmm...could we possibly end up with Ben Gunn on getting taken out by Captain Flint by the time this whole thing is over?

Remember, Ben Gunn will keep moving throughout the game. Only Captain Flint getting back to his starting location ends it. If they end the game on the same Island, Captain Flint eliminates Ben along with any treasure on the island.
