to play devil's advocate, you still have the other Counterspell variants. It's like Bolt being reduced to Shock; you can still counter something, just with some "additional" stuff added instead of a blanket no-nonsense counter.

From what dragonstudios' website says, it's NOT dead, just on hiatus, but that's a bit off the track... I agree that for what Magic Online seems to promise, paying for it doesn't seem like that bad of a deal. And if you could trade, that would be better. On the other hand, why CAN'T you...

I have so many turns and so much gold that when I encounter the riddle man, if I don't need Healing, I choose to change an item since I can usually buy it back if it's bad :) (but I'm hoping for Uniques)

Well, I'm so far behind in sets that I'd still spend money on booster boxes, if I ever had enough. I just broke down the other day and spent $24 on one booster pack from each available set from a WOTC store, just to see what was out there... but money's still a tight thing, in general. But...

The only video games I've played are the stand-up ones; I don't really consider PC games as "arcade". With that in mind, I've sure I've played some bad ones, but it's been so long I've forgetten specifics :)

Back in the day, I would have said you'd probably want to counter something that used Dark Ritual or similiar to help cast it...
