It's still susceptible to bounce and Slide and whatnot, so I think blue is going to have to be part of it to counter those effects. Or ways to give it untargetability.

Well, I visited the Gamekeeper near me a couple of days ago and everything (except WOTC stuff, I presume) was only 30% off. The guys working didn't know when the store would definitely close, but guessed around the end of the month. Hopefully the sales would be more by then :)

Why would ramping up those type of spells be on your dream list? Unless there's some other type of advantage to them, they'd never get played due to the cheaper versions (except maybe in Limited format, if those are the only options). :confused:

I guess there isn't a card preventing artifacts from coming into play :) I don't know what you can do in the Type 2 or Mirrodin block environment to offset the liability. I guess give him haste so we can swing right away and hope your opponent doesn't have any of those "play as an instant"...
