I can do it either time, but I think you're confused on the "final Damage" part. If I do it during Declare blockers step, he'd be 3/4 and 3 damage would go on the stack. If I wait until the damage step, only 1 damage would go on the stack. It would pump him up to 3/4 so he'd survive the hits...

I like to play control decks, so I do that anyway. Plus, even in casual, you should have removal :)

Since (so far) they seem to be cheaper albeit a bit stronger versions of existing spells, you'd probably have to use the existing ones. Not sure what to do if SeFRo plans new spells...
