So - ob nixilis screams animate me early...
the ascension doesn't have a limit per turn... out early, with some prevent, or defense - this is nasty... especially against non-blue colors...
Likin bloodghast, lavaball trap, and the red-x-over color for green's predatory urge... fatties with poundin' capability... mmmm...mmmm... good...

So - I'm thinkin the "ablaze" is pretty easily broken...

Elemental appeal works for me...
Channel - elemental appeal... "a whole new "whoosh!!!..."

Eternity Vessel and sky ruin are nice... - not paying to return a creature to the battlefield... nice...

Iona screams "animate me super early!!!..."

Mindbreak trap - I seriously need to read up on this exile spells business...

I'm a bit bummed that they're pushing vampires in the core set instead of zombies. And now in this set as well... this card would've been really nice as a zombie. Now it's still a great card, but it's not a zombie

Maybe they're just trying to up the Vampires numbers to where Zombies are...

Sure, the vampires need some love as well. But it's a bit pity that they reprint Carnophage, but make it strictly better (well, strictly... it isn't a zombie, but with some good lords vampires might even get better). That's unnecessary power creep. And lazy design. This gatekeeper is a Fleshbag marauder. It's only a bit different, but in duels it's even better. Both in the same tribe would've been really nice.
