I don't know if I'd use the word "useful" with Devoid. Most of these cards are good for a prerelease deck only and drawing cards. I played this prerelease and came in 13th place, I know the series pretty well. We will see.

According to MTG removing the counters from a land Elemental just makes it a land again and takes it out of combat, doesn't kill it.
Where did you find that rule?

I found in the comprehensive rules
704.5f If a creature has toughness 0 or less, it’s put into its owner’s graveyard. Regeneration can’t replace this event.
 
The land never hit zero. You removed the counters and changed its condition. It has to recieve lethal damage in according to the rules to die. Lands only die from lethal damage. In this case there never was any damage. But if you would have blocked it first, doing damage and then removed the counters, then it would have received lethal damage. The ruling comes from a 2020 site: TappedOut.net

Yeah, there is also posts there that say it doesn't. It makes no sense for it to stay a land, since it has to follow the rules of being a creature and when it's toughness goes to 0, as a statebased effect, it is put into the graveyard. Nothing in the rules says that when a land creature has all counters removed and is now toughness of 0, will just stay a land.
But since this game does have "free" land. I'll give it to you.
