I know, that's why it's hard to "argue" with a die-hard religious person as you have to start at the basis that the Bible is truly the Word of God and is infallible.
That's why I said the best place to start is from the original scrolls, as mistranslations do occur, whether God might intend them or not. In fact, some recent revisions are doing intentional substitutions, like "humankind" instead of "mankind" and other "politically correct" stuff like that.
