Honestly, I think you'd have to ask the people who haven't been participating as to the "why" haven't they and if there's something that would make them more inclined to. Because you can talk about different formats, trying to make them more palatable to others, when the others don't care either way.

I personally tend to stay away from this sort of thing because my drafting "skills" are horribly deficient. That, plus the fact that I've been away from the game for a long time (thus not knowing most of the cards) leaves me preferring a rather limited cardpool.
