What commons are bombs?

I'm working on an article about common bombs, to be titled "Junkyard Survey." In order to work on it, though, I'd like to hear what commons you think are bombs. This way I have a survey list to work with, rather than my own arbitrary selection.

So...what commons available on MTGO Extended (Invasion block, Odyssey block, Onslaught block, Mirrodin block, 7E, 8E) do you consider broken/bombastic/super-powerful?

Then, what commons from the same selection of sets do you think are just horridly weak?

Doh! The only ones I can think aren't in those blocks: Rancor and Blastoderm.

Hmm... I guess maybe Bonesplitter? The equipment that gives untargetability in Mirrodin expansion? Not sure if those are good just in limited or in all environments though.

Asked one CPAer on MTGO (dunno if s/he wants to remain annonymous) so I'll post the listing here:

Counterspell,
Volcanic Hammer,
Armadillo Cloak,
Recoil,
Terminate,
Moment's Peace,
Wild Mongrel,
Aether Burst,
Werebear,
Firebolt,
Sparksmith,
Naturalize,
Chromatic Sphere,
Vulshok Morningstar,
Cranial Plating
Bonesplitter
Timberwatch Elves
Basking Rootwalla
Myr Enforcer
Deep Analysis
Myr Enforcer

In response to KJ: I agree that Terminate is hella strong, but it has nothing on Counterspell. I'd say Counterspell is hands down the most poweful common from the entire list of sets.

Any listings of crap cards?

Mine would include the Core Game stuff:
Sea Eagle
Eager Cadet
Giant Octopus
Coral Eel

Ooooooooo, you're gonna be in t-r-o-u-b-l-e with train. :p

Ya know, I would've normally said Counterspell AND, as you can see, I DID list it first but I just thought that I would vote for something other than blue to be the best card.

I have never played MTGO at all and don't really understand what you mean about the card pool. Is it different from the regular Extended?

MTGO's cardpool is thus:

Invasion block, Odyssey block, Onslaught block, Mirrodin block, 7E, 8E

Since these all fit within Extended, the online format is called Online Extended, as opposed to Standard, which matches the real version.

The reason why (I believe) is because MTGO was created during the Invasion block, so they just started with those cards. They don't plan to go back though unless the card is reprinted (again, I think).

Off the top of my head:

Deconstruct
Tel-Jilad Archers <- Teh Powha!
Tel-Jilad Chosen
Tel-Jilad Riders
Barbed Lightning
Bonesplitter
Razor Golem
Echoing Ruin
Consume Spirit (If you can draft enough black)
Arrest
Skyhunter Patrol

....been drafting lately.

SeFro: When you say, "Bombs", do you mean for a specific format? I listed Disciple of the Vault and it's only really a bomb in MD5 Block Constructed and sometimes limited.

Could you mean; what are Bomb common cards that stand on their own?

Of course that would change my list a little bit.

Yeah, what cards stand alone as just plain awesome.

The article premise is basically thus:
1) This list of cards are ones so good they are bombs in any deck that uses them.
2) Therefore, I'll throw them into a deck of total junk.
3) Mix, and see what happens.

Any blue card is overly powerful... especially island...

as for a bad card (though I don't mind this) - it would have to be ertai's trickery... It limits itself so much...

We need cards like fireblast online!... and Sneak Attack!...

Island is not blue. It is colorless. The mana it produces just happens to help blue decks more than colorless decks. :-/

While I would like to see older cards come back, stuff like Fireblast would be much too insane on MTGO.

Take a sledge hammer and pound in your PC monitor. But only the part where the mountains are displayed. ;)

Islands are not blue in the same manner that Mussolini was not Hitler. They may be scumbags on their own (islands and Mussolini) but they are nowhere near the total a-holes that their "close buddiees" were.
