I'm trying to keep it simple. I want this to disrupt My
opponent with Rootwater Thief and discard stuff.
Then for doing damage the idea is to give +1/+1 and
Islandwalk to the Merfolk then use Mystic compass to make them unblockable.
Thats pretty much the basic idea. So... how bad is it?
<sigh>
More importantly what should I do to make it better.

(18) Creatures
4 Rootwater Thief
3 Lord of Atlantis
4 Vodalian Zombie
4 Ravenous Rats
3 Stalking Assassin

(17) Spells
2 Vampiric Tutor
4 Recoil
3 Stupor
4 Snuff out
4 Counterspell

(2) Artifacts
2 Mystic Compass

(21) Land
7 Swamp
8 Island
4 Underground River
4 Salt Marsh

Offhand, just looking at it, I'd say if you're not going full out with Merfolk (and I'm guessing the Assassins aren't Merfolk), you probably shouldn't be loading up on the Lords. So I'd just put one in, if any.

If the goal is to pump and give Islandwalk, I'd probably throw in the artifacts that can do that (which I have no idea what they are right at the moment, sorry). Oh wait, you wanted to keep this T2... well, maybe that's not a good idea. :)

Maybe you better wait for a REAL deck person... ;)

Jay Schneider posted a cool Fish deck on New Wave. Here's my idea:

4 Voldalian Zombies
4 Galina's Knight
4 Vodalian Traders
4 Rootwater Thief
4 Lord of Atlantis
3 Ensnare/Jolting Merfolk
4 Sleepers Robe
4 Misdirection
2 Foil
4 Counterspell
4 Underground River
4 Adakar Wastes
1 Plains
14 Islands

SB
4 Disenchant
4 Daze
4 Rootwater Commando
3 Distorting Lens

If you want to make it more U/B, drop the Lords, the Zombies, the Rats and the Assassins and Stick in Apparitions and lots of removal:

4 Rootwater Thief
4 Chilling Apparition
4 Abyssal Specter
1 Bribery
1 Wash Out
2 Vampiric Tutor
4 Snuff Out
4 Vendetta
4 Counterspell
4 Misdirection
4 Undermine
4 Rishidan Port
4 Underground River
4 Salt Marsh
7 Swamp
4 Islands

SB
4 Perish
4 Recoil
3 Cremate (Nether Spirit is a real problem)
4 Addle

it really narrows your deck in order for the lords to be useful creatures just about every other creature needs to benefit from them. I like the idea of thieves and discard and think you should explore that.

4- Rootwater Thieves
4- Chilling Apparitions
4- Vodalian Zombies
4- Abyssal Spector

4- Counterspell
4- Undermine
2- Misdirection
2- Foil
4- Snuff out
4- Recoil
4- Vampiric Tutor
2- Sleepers Robe

4- Underground River
4- Salt Marsh
8- Islands
8- Swamps

But remember I am no good at black.

Well, it seems that you have to make a choice. Do you want to go for control + merfolk beatdown? Or do you prefer blue-black disrupting discard?

If you're going for merfolk, then you should go with merfolk all the way, with perhaps only 2-3 creatures not being merfolk. The Stalking Assassins are good control, though their influence can be most felt only by about the 7th or 8th round, due to the high cost of their abilities. That being said, these should be your only non-merfolk. The Vodalian Merchant seems to be a good alternative to the rats, and they have the additional purpose of card cycling.

Off topic for just a little while. Aren't you irritated that the Vodalian Hypnotist and the Tidal Visionary weren't merfolk? I love those cards, but they just won't fit in a merfolk-based theme. Darn those R&D people. So many elves and so few viable fish...

Back to the topic. If you want to dedicate your deck to pure discard, then those Lords are going bye-bye. Stupors, Unmasks and Addles, plus a couple of rats would do nicely. perhaps a Disrupting Sceptre or two, plus of course the Abyssal Specter. And, with so many black spells, some Dark Rituals wouldn't hurt. You could also add insult to injury by putting in Rackling or Avatar of Will.

Regardless of the direction you want to take the deck, there are a few cards that I think would fit in either. If you can obtain them (damn rare things) then at least 2 Undermines will be wonderful countermagic to have. Also, I would NEVER go without my newest favorite card Wash Out. Any deck that requires a build-up or swarm will ache at this card. I would place Wash Out main deck, with Massacre in the sideboard for those nasty Rebels and Elves. (If you're playing with a sideboard, that is.) ;)

This is going to sound stupid to You good Magic players, but I thought I would try to stick the Flores and Fish deck types together.
Then I thought Tangle Wire works good with weenies so, in they went.

[me]keeps on trying[/me]

I don't think it's dumb at all Griffin :)

But I would change two cards.
-1 Jolting Merfolk
+1 Perish

I would imagine that any attempt at the Flores deck will run one of these main.

Um...I don't know, this version seems a little better. The Seahunters seem to be better than the Lords. Also took out the Stalking assassin's didn't seem to be real usefull. Took out Coastal Piracy in favor of Fact of Fiction. What do You think? Any suggestions, please?

I built one of the original aggro-fish decks.
Lords and Tidal warriors, how cool was that?

Okay:
4 lords of atlantis
3 Seahunter
4 Vodalian zombie
4 rootwater thief
3 ravenous rats
4 Jolting merfolk
4 Vampiric tutor
4 Phantasmal terrain
4 recoil
4 opt
4 tsabo's web (Look! a 52 card deck!)

Okay, you have 7 merfolk-helpers, 8 searchers, 4 island-makers, 4 anonymous threat killers, 3 discards, and 12 merfolk. Oh, and 4 tsabo's webs. Just in case these sea-dwellers spot a port.

You may want to use Recover, to keep the joltings and the rats coming back....

Duel: (from two of your posts ago) Well, mine does have a "theme" and I could describe it, it's just that (as far as I know) it's not really a 'Net deck or any variant. If I ever get to play Griffy long enough so she can see what it does, maybe she can describe it.

You don`t need a lot of Fish to make the Lord good - he IS a 2/2 for UU on his own, don`t forget - that`s none too shabby. I think he stands on his own merits more or less. I like Seahunter, but he might be too slow.

I like Schneider`s deck, but I`d change it around a bit as he had some really janky stuff in:

3 Stormscape Apprentice
2 Faerie Squadron
3 Knight Fish
4 Dead Fish
4 King Fish
3 Electric Fish
1 Fish Catcher (or 4th Electric Fish)
(20)

2 Seal Of Removal
3 Sleeper`s Robe
4 Counterspell
3 Undermine
2 Wash Out
3 Parallax Tide
(17)

3 City Of Brass
4 Adarkar Wastes
4 Underground River
5 Swamp
7 Island
(23)

Like Schneider said the mana looks really rough, but all the spells are good, and that`s important. Also curves well with stuff to do on the first turn onwards.
