I was a true collector at one point - all the way down to X-Men #3 - that was my "glory issue"

Yes.

I never was a "real" collector, but I managed to get the direct edition of the first 3 issues of The New Mutants.

It was more for train since he mentioned it, but I collected comics (Spiderman of course, Avengers, Thor, FF) before Magic came along and sucked away my money in its direction...

Yeah - It was before Magic - and then a little during... Magic faded my comic budget to nil existence after the first few games I played...
