Yeah!!!...

That's right!!!...

Bow down to the almighty...

oh...

nevermind...

I guess with 2 of us answering it was not hard for my answers to be unique...

I do think the less fields might help - get more people interested...

Hey spidey - Congrats on Second Place!!!...

:p

Second or last... ;)

Actually, I thought the combination of the letter (O?) and the category made it sort of hard... I can try running it with the actual cards if BigBlue doesn't mind...

I intentionally made it harder - maybe that was a bigger flaw...

I have the game - though 1 set of cards is missing so I don't have as many categories to draw from...

Scategories isn't about picking the Letter "S" - they should be obscure imho...

Although I'd forgotten that either name could start with the letter - so that should be corrected.

I was really looking at scattegories as the anti-wwyt --- in other words rewarding uniqueness rather than commonality... So I could just morph wwyt somehow...

I'm in for Scattegories.

And Train, I love those Ozzy Osbourne movies :D:p

Ironically, I didn't put anything because I was having trouble coming up with any 'O' names. That exact answer was the only one I could think of and I'm not sure if technically it should count because Ozzy really isn't a movie star.

Although, I have to say, there is some random DVD out there that lists him and some other rock guy. I wouldn't swear it was a movie, though.

Speaking of which, since when is Sandra Day O'Conner a movie actress? If we are going to really play anything with Scattergories, I think the categories need to be enforced :D

As long as we don't get into any arguments over them - I've seen some Scategories games get dirty over certain answers.

It did not say "Movie Star" it said actor...

Ozzy Ozbourne is credited as an actor in the following:

Moulin Rouge! (2001) (voice) .... The Green Fairy
Jerky Boys, The (1995) .... Band Manager
Sam Kinison Banned (1990) (V) .... The Judge
Riders of the Storm (1986)
... aka American Way, The (1988) (Australia)
Trick or Treat (1986) .... Rev. Aaron Gilstrom

Actually - it was Trick or Treat which I remembered - but I'm a headbanger from way back... :p

I didn't look up Sandra Day O'Conner until now - She is listed in the following documentaries (playing herself in both):

Election 2000 (2001) (V) .... Herself (Associate Justice, U.S. Supreme Court)
Gap-Toothed Women (1987) .... Herself

So, those were both valid answers... with arguements available on O'Conner.

Just like the game - it is up to the person who answers to prove it though - using a common tool (the internet)

The one I would have thrown an arguement on was the critic... O magazine isn't a critic - though they may have a film critic column... Also Ophelia - not Opelia... I gave him that one... :D

Well, having the Net as a resource does seem to require making the game a tad harder, but I like it when the categories aren't related :)

But I'll play anything, so I'll go with whatever ;)

In all honesty... I can't believe I mis-spelled Ophelia...

I don't know of any female characters "opelia"...

Thanks BB... :)

I'm up for whichever game...:D

I need to clarify a rule...

After further review...

An answer must "Start" with the letter - however all words do not need to begin with that letter.

So, if the letter was "J"

John F Kennedy is a valid "US President"
Lyndon Johnson is not.

The same goes for things other than names...

"Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat" is a valid J answer but wouldn't be valid for T or D as a musical (or movie).

Articles do not count (the, and, of, etc...)

I apologize for my misunderstanding, but Spiderman showed me the error of my ways and I dug out my rules to clarify.... I've always played it that all words must start with the letter - which typically isn't too hard because there a plenty of one word answers for most things...

I should get a point for that... :)

So do you still get bonus points for still having multiple words start with the same letter (like Sylvester Stallone would earn 2 points for the letter S)?

Yes.

That is described as an Optional rule - and I definately like that option... now - "Sylvester 'Sly' Stallone" would still only be worth 2, putting his nickname in there wouldn't count to me...

I'll stick with my second answer for obvious reasons... unless you determine it was prompted by all of this, in which case no biggie to go back to my first answer :)

As I said in my rules... you can change your answers - so if one comes to mind later - I don't mind...

I'd just like your subsequent message to include all your answers (so I can delete the first one...)

This is not to say I'd like to see 10 answers from a person in a week, but 2-3 is no big deal and more than that is acceptable once in a while...

For those of you who've already sent in your answers, I will accept them this week - or you can resubmit if something else comes to mind...

Being able to change answers sounds sorta lame. But heck, I'm in! This sounds like fun!!! :D

Um...I'm pretty sure there is a specific rule for names that you can write them Johnson, Lyndon - which would be a valid US President.

Yeah, but I didn't write Johnson, Lyndon....

here are the official rules - I will defer to them, although I was really hoping to set a higher standard since we don't have a timer.

Rules For Acceptable Answers
• The first word of your answer must begin with the key letter.

• The articles "A”, "An", and “The” cannot be used for their key letters. Examples: “S" is the key letter for the Movie Title, The Shining. "T” is the key letter for the Book, A Tale Of Two Cities.

• The exact same answer CANNOT be given twice in one round. Example: You cannot answer Daisy for a Flower and also for A Girl’s Name.

• When answering with a proper name, the first or last name may be used as long as the key letter is the first letter of your answer. For example, if the key letter is "P” and the category is Celebrity, your answer could be Paul Newman or Presley, Elvis.

• Creative answers can be acceptable. For example, you could answer Knuckle as a kind of Sandwich. But if one player challenges the answer, the group must vote on its acceptability.
Here's a link to the Official Rules.

Bump... The Rules are given here verbatim from the game.

They do not include a provision regarding adjectives - I will make a ruling that I will allow 1 adjective in an answer provided . . .

The adjective is normally associated with the noun.

The noun must begin with the letter - in other words if I was the letter - Impacted Molar would not be worth any points - you can NOT simply add an adjective to make an answer valid.

So I guess adjective answers fall under "creative answers", in which the group can challenge them and vote...
