First post in a VERY long time...haven't had too many people to play against for a while, but now that I found a group of Magic players in my area, I can start building decks again.
Anyway, since Mirrodin came out, everyone around here has been trying to abuse affinity. I've seen so many affinity decks out there, some that use Broodstar as the kill card and others that use zero-cost artifacts along with Words of Wind and Vedalken Archmage. I also play against Extended decks that use an Aluren combo with Cavern Harpy and a storm spell (Brain Freeze or Tendrils of Agony). Mostly, I've noticed that these decks tend to focus on infinite combos, and I don't really have the cards to counter that kind of strategy, so all I can do right now is try to play as fast as possible.
Revisions from the previous postings: Out went a lot of the cards that really didn't work well (Vengeful Dead is too expensive for a minor effect, and yes, I finally realized that Entrails Feaster is kind of sad). I also added some discard, just for the early disruption and possibly to get rid of some removal/combo pieces (Goblins, B/W and U/W control, and affinity decks are popular here). Yes, I'm running Moxes in a deck where most spells cost 2 or less. There's just not enough speed out here.
Creatures: 30
2x Graveborn Muse
2x Cabal Archon
4x Gempalm Polluter
4x Withered Wretch
4x Shepherd of Rot
4x Carrion Feeder
4x Maggot Carrier
4x Festering Goblin
2x Entrails Feaster
Sorceries: 6
4x Blackmail
2x Wrench Mind
Instants: 4
4x Terror
Aritfacts: 4
4x Chrome Mox
Land: 16
4x Unholy Grotto
12x Swamp
People still don't run Chalice of the Void, so this deck is not worried about that at all.
P.S.: This is a post-Mirrodin Standard (Type 2) deck, but may play against some Extended decks, although the deck itself should remain Type 2.
