From my very limited experience with the format I think the decks
need to be Black/x or have protection from Black and possibly
Red. Those two colors have a lot of CiP removal. Shadow or
some other type of evasion is needed as well. I'm only guessing.
I'm often wrong and lose a lot of games because of my lack
of understanding the card pool. Its probably because of all the
net-decking I've done over the years.

In our play-test games Gildie Locks was really good against
non-black based decks but folded to Black/x. Morphling is
pretty hard to deal with though. It was the key to winning
almost every game. Morphling is pretty strong. I was planning
on putting Man 0' War in the Gildie Locks sideboard.

The Viridian Zealot should probably be in the CinderBall side.
Possibly main deck if Platinum Angel seems to be popular
at the event. Doubt if I'd play the C/Ball deck but you never
know.

I still like the Braid's deck. Maybe the B/u version will work
better for me.

Time for bed.........

I'm coming to the conclusion you are right, as is often the case.
My brother loves trying to prove basic theory wrong so we'll
see what he comes up with for this week. I'm going to play-test
Cleric's, Fat/WW, and Wondicore this week. I might try the
Beastie deck this week too. I'll probably try Zombies the following
week and have some sideboards for some form of AggroBlack and
maybe Gildie Locks. That deck a joy to play.

Lucky draw one game:
Turn one: Bird
Turn two: Wall
Turn three: TwR
Turn four:Seedborn

Bounce, Bounce:D

that's nice and quick for the TwR... You could even run something like Shield Sphere for free phatness!...

chris92,

I don't have a Karakas but if I did, I'd throw it in there. Maybe
I can trade for one at origins. Thanks:)

train,

Got an idea for the zombie decklist?

Will post on for you sometime this week - or PM it whichever...

Is the format creatures only extended or type 1 or what?...

That would give me a better feel for the possible capabilities...

;)

np on the karakas thing, my cuz uses it in his black land destruction deck, he splashed white for karakas and vindicate. the karakas braids combo really hurts the opponent a lot, especially because karakas can bounce itself.

i made a zombie deck once, with a nice fun combo, barrow ghoul and putrid imp :)

Play-test update: Still no sideboards, just testing

Wondicore worked really well. If I got Squee in my hand things
got really interesting. Sometimes I would get the fast madness
draw other times I could just bounce and my way to a game
win. I only played it four times and without sideboards so I'll
have to testing it some more. I may have just got lucky.
4w/no loss

Fat WW wasn't very good against decks without heavy Red and/
or Black. White needs some new creatures with CiP's. Like a
CiP: Wrath of God or Swords to plowshares. A new set of
Avengers? :) I went 3W/4L.

I just can't get a winning record with Kibler's Aggro-black deck. I
just have bad luck with the deck. I guess its not meant to be. Its
probably the way I'm playing it. 4W/5L

I had quite abit of luck with Cabal of Darkness. After I changed
the deck of course. It didn't have much synergy the way I posted
it earlier in this thread. With the new decklist I went 5W/2L. My
brother said it needs more ways to win but I'm not sure how to
change it to add another way to win. All the creatures are small
and can be run over rather easy. Almost all the wins came from
an early Scion/Suplicant combo. Vile Deacon/Sanctum can be
fun too.

Cabal of Darkness(v2.0)
-----------------
3 Brine Shaman
4 Vile Deacon
4 Dark Suplicant
4 Withered Wretch
4 Cabal Achron
4 Rotlung Reanimator
4 Bane of the Living
1 Scion of Darkness
4 Headhunter
3 Order of the Ebon Hand
1 Deathmark Prelate

20 Swamp
3 Starlit Sanctum
1 Volrath's Stronghold

Sideboard
1 Visara, the Dreadful

I need to play-test a deck with Spiritmonger so I guess I'll work on that next.

We play-tested again Friday and I here are the results

Wondicore lost every game. My brother played better decks. 0W/4L

Fat WW was 50/50. Intrepid hero helped out some. The Knights
and Soltari Monk pushed thought at various times.

The Cabal of Darkness deck can win really fast if the combo
goes off. Overall its not to bad. Sometimes you just don't have
enough power though. 5W/2L

My new Black Aggro-Control did pretty good. 7W/2L

BLack Aggro-Control
-------------------
4 Festering Goblin
4 Nantuko Shade
4 Bone Shredder
4 Shambling Swarm
4 Nantuko Husk
4 Hypnotic Specter
4 Ravenous Rats
4 Dauthi Horror
1 Visara the Dreadful
1 Ascendent Evincar

23 Swamp
3 Cabal Coffers

Sideboard:
4 Bane of the Living
4 Ticking Gnomes

I built a Beast deck using mostly Beast and Contest Cliffs and it
worked pretty well if I could draw a Cliffs but seemed to fold
to often. The decklist is weak so I'll leave it off. It was Red/Green

:)

I got smacked around, by of all things, Reiver Demon and an
Artifact-red deck. Lost twice to both and moved on to another
deck. Sometimes it just not your night. The first game against
his Reiver deck, I had him to one and lost several to the Demon
(over-extended, like usual)and I never recovered. He made some
good plays and I made several play mistakes. Second game I just
got beat. Both games vs the red deck, he played smart and I
was over confident. Didn't respect haste!:)

So far I like:

Black Aggro-Control
Cabal of Darkness
Gildie-Locks(seedborn is just great)
Wondicore(fun inter-action)

I noticed there aren't any Nekrataals in the deck...

Not sure how they'd play - but I know they'd wipe stuff off the board...

Volrath's stronghold and gravedigger guarantee the cycle...

still working on the deck idea...

(I've been busy prepping for Regionals...)

If nothing changes I'm going to play the Black Aggro-control
deck in the Type 1.5 part of the creature feature. I seem to get
pretty good draws with it and I feel the most comfortilbe playing
it.

The Nekrataal's are strong of course but I went with the Swarm
in the 4cc slot because of the ability to take down three small
dudes and a 3/3. Its probably just a matter of choice. I'm also
assuming the ability to kill small black creatures and multipule
regenerators will be important too.(-1-1 counters) Bane of the
Living does that rather well too but I'd like to keep my side of the
board in the first game.

I guess this will be my 1.5 deck. The sideboard is unfinished.(looking for suggestions)

BLack Aggro-Control
-------------------
4 Festering Goblin
4 Nantuko Shade
4 Bone Shredder
4 Shambling Swarm
4 Nantuko Husk
4 Hypnotic Specter
4 Ravenous Rats
4 Dauthi Horror
1 Visara the Dreadful
1 Ascendent Evincar

23 Swamp
3 Cabal Coffers

Sideboard:
4 Bane of the Living
4 Ticking Gnomes
4 open slots(? crypt rats)
3 Royal Assassin

I'm still undecieded about what I'm going to play in the extended
creature feature. If I replace the Hippy this deck would be legal.
Maybe the zombie deck would be good for the extended format.
I really would like to come up with something clever but I'm
missing one important element. Cleverness,........ is that a word?:)

Have you thought about Chainer?...

or Sorceress Queen...

You could run the paladins in the sideboard - eastern and western...;)
(I'm still looking at deck ideas - but yours looks pretty solid);)
