If you can get it to work, the Stinging Barrier/Charisma combo works really well with Gilded Drake also, since you can give the Drake to your opponent, then follow it up with a Charismatic Sting from the Barrier to take it back. You end up with a 3/3 flyer and whatever else you stole.
As for the Escort, if you're looking for some spellshaper action, try the Waterfront Bouncer. It bounces Drakes back to your hand and works as creature control, too (although, if you're using Temporal Adept, that works the same way).
Perhaps Diplomatic Immunity would be better? Place it on your Temporal Adept, and you won't have to worry about it being destroyed (for the most part; Earthquake or Wrath of God would still do it, but then again, that's what Counterspells are for).
As for the white cards, they don't really fit in with the idea of stealing creatures, so I would stick with the mono-blue approach (with Temporal Adept's ability requiring UUU to play, it means you'll need an awful lot of blue in any case). You might splash white for Disenchant or something, but that takes away from some of your blue base.
