train,
I'm not ignoring your Dawn tech, I just don't have one.

Spidy,
I'll try to work those suggestions into my WW deck.

More thoughts in Highlander......

Is it possible to build a mono-blue highlander MP deck? Should I
build a deck that steals cards or play blue weenie?

Here's an idea for Thievery.dec(70 cards-highlander)

I've aslo been thinking about a mono-color for each of the other
there colors. Does anyone have some thoughts on Black, Red
and Green.

I like the blue thievery theme.

Not sure about the other colors, maybe the "best" spells for them and see how it goes. Except using discard for black might be difficult for MP, so maybe stay away from that.

Null brooch is the colorless blue tech...

about the dawns - it's cool... they are just so much more powerful when it's a casual game...

This is just a mini 5color format. You need to play a Domain engine since only basics are allowed.

Land
(Mostly Forests)
(only 2 or 3 of other basic lands, depending on color distribution)
2 Chromatic Sphere
2 Lay of the Land
2 Rampant Growth
2 Fertile Ground
2 Harrow
2 Primal Growth
2 Far Wanderings
2 Krosan Tusker
.
.
.
2 Sunscape Familiar
2 Orim's Thunder
2 Mirari's Wake
2 Questing Phelddagrif

2 Quiet Speculation
2 Fact or Fiction
2 Allied Strategies
2 Collective Restraint

2 Firebolt
2 Chainer's Edict
2 Call of the Herd
2 Grizzly Fate
2 Ordered Migration
2 Aether Mutation

2 Holistic Wisdom

You should follow something like this skeleton and you'll probably have the best mana base at the table. Your first few turns are spent fixing/accelerating mana, the next few are dropping bombs, then drawing cards, then pitching late game mana fixers like Rampant Grows for Grizzly Fates with Holistic Wisdom.

Do a search on StarcityGames.com for Abe's "Building your First Five" to see what should influence your creature and spell selection for a format like this. It emphasizes robustness of your spells, not sheer speed.

hey Ken,

Glad to see your back.

I did some 5-color searching at there site and read Abe's stuff. I
also read your 5-color article at StarCity.

So far, our mini-5-color and highlander decks have been
enchantment heavy and creature heavy. Its been a lot of fun to
play multi-player versions of highlander and mini-5C. I'll keep
you suggestion in mind the next time we play mini-5.

Right now, the interest seems to be MP highlander. I have two
decks. One is mono-white and the other is mono-black. I need
to design some two color decks. Green and White seems to have
a lot of powerful cards. Green and Red might be good.
My mono-blue deck didn't do very well last week so I took it apart.
The theivery made me a big target. I didn't play every smart
either.

There are just so many possibilities. Blue and Green won a game
last week. Red, White and Blue also took a game. Random deck
wins.
:)

Does/has anyone played highlander? What cards did you think
were good?

Inquest "2 Star" format

Get a copy of Inquest and build a deck using only cards that Inquest has deemed a 1 or 2 star effectivness.

It's crazy I tell ya!
