I decided to drop the 'ol "Ceta-Strom" deck due to the inability to make it work well
.
So, even though I don't have all the right cards, I made this lil' gem way loosly based off of the PA State Champs deck:
Counter-less U/G/r
4 Bird of Paradise
3 Call of the Herd
3 Beast Attack
4 Kavu Titan
4 Gaea's Skyfolk
3 Repulse
2 Rushing River
4 Fire/Ice
3 Prophetic Bolt
4 Fact or Fiction
2 Ghitu Fire
4 Shivan Oasis
4 Shivan Reef
4 Yavimaya Coast
1 City of Brass
1 Mossfire Valley
5 Forest
6 Island
SB//:
Appropriate Cards.
I'll be hauling this thing to "Infinity Comics" in Penn Hills, PA a week from tonight. The competition level there has a nice reuptation, and they have DCI sanctioned tourney's there, too.
I know I need four FlameTongue Kavu, I just don't know what to take out when I get them....sidenote, those FTK's trade like they're rares, around here, OY!
Now most of you know that I love Blue/Green, and when I play it, it's gotsta have some countermagic in it. But not this "Bad Boy". I feel so,....so, .......dirty , playing blue without counterspells. But hey, when FoF goes off, it's "Clobberin' Time!"
I really think this is the way U/G is going. You don't need Opoosition, you just need to lay down threat after threat until your opponent is out of options.
You put together what are argueably the best two bears in Standard right now (Gaea's Skyfolk and Kavu Titan), add two of the best "Beefy" token makers, stir in some bouncy stuff to clear the path and splash in a bit of burn for spot removal and/or game finisher and WHALAH! You got yerself some "Red, Hot & Blue"!!!!!!!
I really do feel 'naked' without the counter magic of Counterspell and it's retarded cousin Mystic Snake, but I'm kinda likin' it
.
I truly believe that FTK is what really makes this deck hum, it friggin' just about kills everything and anything, AND, you can attack with it and bounce it back to your hand (should I happen to leave bounce spells in the deck after putting in the FTK's).
Wud do ya think, I know Griffy has a similar deck design, how 'bout you? Would you consider playing this deck archetype?
