My new, unimaginative, T2 deck.

I decided to drop the 'ol "Ceta-Strom" deck due to the inability to make it work well :(.

So, even though I don't have all the right cards, I made this lil' gem way loosly based off of the PA State Champs deck:

Counter-less U/G/r
4 Bird of Paradise
3 Call of the Herd
3 Beast Attack
4 Kavu Titan
4 Gaea's Skyfolk
3 Repulse
2 Rushing River
4 Fire/Ice
3 Prophetic Bolt
4 Fact or Fiction
2 Ghitu Fire
4 Shivan Oasis
4 Shivan Reef
4 Yavimaya Coast
1 City of Brass
1 Mossfire Valley
5 Forest
6 Island

SB//:
Appropriate Cards.

I'll be hauling this thing to "Infinity Comics" in Penn Hills, PA a week from tonight. The competition level there has a nice reuptation, and they have DCI sanctioned tourney's there, too.
I know I need four FlameTongue Kavu, I just don't know what to take out when I get them....sidenote, those FTK's trade like they're rares, around here, OY!

Now most of you know that I love Blue/Green, and when I play it, it's gotsta have some countermagic in it. But not this "Bad Boy". I feel so,....so, .......dirty , playing blue without counterspells. But hey, when FoF goes off, it's "Clobberin' Time!"

I really think this is the way U/G is going. You don't need Opoosition, you just need to lay down threat after threat until your opponent is out of options.

You put together what are argueably the best two bears in Standard right now (Gaea's Skyfolk and Kavu Titan), add two of the best "Beefy" token makers, stir in some bouncy stuff to clear the path and splash in a bit of burn for spot removal and/or game finisher and WHALAH! You got yerself some "Red, Hot & Blue"!!!!!!!

I really do feel 'naked' without the counter magic of Counterspell and it's retarded cousin Mystic Snake, but I'm kinda likin' it :).

I truly believe that FTK is what really makes this deck hum, it friggin' just about kills everything and anything, AND, you can attack with it and bounce it back to your hand (should I happen to leave bounce spells in the deck after putting in the FTK's).

Wud do ya think, I know Griffy has a similar deck design, how 'bout you? Would you consider playing this deck archetype?

I got crushed, this thing needs to have a touch of Counter Magic, so here's my revised decks list:

U/G/r Tempo

Creatures Spells
4 Birds of Paradise
4 Beast Attack
3 Call of the Herd (when I get my fourth one I'll take out a Beast Attack)
4 Mystic Snake
3 Flametongue Kavu

Utility Spells
4 Counterspell
3 Repulse
3 Fact or Fiction
4 Fire/Ice
2 Prophetic Bolt
2 Ghitu Fire

Lands
2 Mossfire Valley
1 City of Brass
4 Shivan Oasis
4 Yavimaya Coast
4 Shivan Reef
3 Forest
7 Island

I am having a hard time explaining why and how Mossfire Valley works well in this deck, but it does, somehow. The City of Brass really helps smooth out the mana but the Oasis' drag me down, maybe I should trade for some Karplusan Forests and put them in.

Call of the Herd and Beast Attack just put the pressure on, my opponent has to deal with two creature tokens that only cost me one card slot, although, a resolved Hibernation sucks for me :(.

Mystic Snake and Counterspell were really missed in my earlier version, they're just a pain in the arse for my opponent.

Fire/Ice and Repulse; I know I'm supposed to use Fire more than Ice but tapping a potential blocker AND drawing a card is just too good to pass up, same for Repulse. Fire does a nice job when an opposing BoP comes out :).

Prophetic Bolt and Fact or Fiction, I wanted to go 4 FoF's but the bolt has saved me in the pass too many times I think the 2 and 3 combo are a good balance.

Ghitu Fire, Zadok001 once recommended Ghitu over Urza's Rage due to it's versitality, it's true, the rage just can't ever kill a 6/6 Dragon, ever.

I think this might work better for me, I want to put in Wild Mongrel in for Shadowmage Infiltrator, maybe for the SB.

Some help would be appreciated.

It's true, taplands are for decks that can afford to draw their Xth land, and discover that it comes into play tapped. Painlands are best, when you can track them down.
