Interesting...

Now, I have to ask about the stupid stack... I've always been of the impression that if you start a stack, I can allow that stack to resolve and start a new one after... Is this correct? Since it's my turn, I should have priority... Because at this point I do have a response, but only when your affect resolves, but before damage resolves... I should have asked this prior to my attack...

No response... and to answer your question above, yes, once a stack has been resolved, players take turns having priority so they can start a new stack if they want. Only when both players pass does the game move forward.
