I basically made this deck (or am trying to) because i seem to have nearly every other tribal deck Saprolings, Elves, Dragons, Birds, Wizards, Thallids, Clerics, Soldiers, etc. That and basically i got a ton of merfolk rotting, and im sure you all do as well.

I was trying to spot synergy. I'll try to justify the choices i made.

Tidal Warrior/Reef Shaman+ Seasinger=repeat creature steal

Lord of Atlantis (Might as well have beefy merfolk)
Rootwater Thief (slow but very good selective removal, and hes cheap)

2 Saprazzan Heir (quick flood of cards)
2 Darting Merfolk (chump blockers)


Manta Riders (possibly removed for more tidal/reef shamans to mprove seasinger's changes)

Jolting Merfolk( possibly with hunter could lock out creatures, giving you 2 turns of full attack)

Rootwater Hunter(fetching multiple good merfolks)

Legacy’s allure (cheap awesome steal)
Legerdermain/control magic (steal again)

Ensnare (Have seen it win games)
Tidal Courier (get a handful of merfolk)

I was toying with using
Rootwater Matriarch, 2UU, 2/3, Tempest Rare
T: Gain control of target creature for as long as it?s enchanted.

and slow motion to let it die, or shimmering wings or volrath's curse and bounce it back


some people have also stressed how good drawing then discarding with merfolk looter, so perhaps i could implement more.

Vodalian Merchant 1U, 1/2, Invasion Common
187-draw a card, then discard a card from your hand.

Merfolk Looter 1U, 1/1, Exodus Common
T: Draw a card, then discard a card from your hand.

Merfolk Traders 1U, 1/2, Weatherlight Common
187- draw a card, then discard a card from your hand.

Again if anyone has a merfolk deck i'd be interested to see it.

Yea i debated using them but opted for more control based creatures.

the heir is a beast, although im tempted to make this merfolk deck somewhat competitive with bonesplitters and chrome moxes.

That'd be hilarious.

ok well not really.. but still.

adding bonesplitters would also make it geared much more around things like manta riders and 1cc land converters. Plus Darting Merfolk With a bonesplitter would be pretty funny.

plus the thief can get flying as well..

so i can see a couple routes, 1 which is listed, or

Small weenie flying, bone splitters, creature steal

one idea, which would remove the merfolk status would be using
mainly Drakes and vedalken orry

with arctic merfolk, darting merfolk, gilded drake, shrieking drake, and timid drake, silver drake and possibly spindrift drake

you could run custom depot, equipment, and equilibrium

Pay U1 for shrieking drake chump blocker and draw a card or bounce
pay 1U for gilded, 1U for arctic bouncing the gilded and stealing a creature..

the way i see it, after you get 5-6 lands, or an orrery, you can quickly establish control.. and do lots of fun fun self-bounce

Saprazzan Heir is not a beast. She is a Merfolk and a very pretty one (should be called "Heiress" though, but oh well).

I would try to fit in River Merfolk/Curiosity.

Unstable Mutations are also a bonus...;)
