Ive talked about this to a few other people, but for some reason I feel the need to ask a few more. Do you think its cheap/cop out for an artist to use a computer program to optimize, mutate, enhance, etc… his work? Is it right? Should one feel guilt afterwards?

...

I told you on AIM what my opinion was.

Behold!

They will all offer you the same advice...

I'd say no, though I wouldn't consider him a traditional artist. If you've ever used Photoshop or any music software, you'll see that it does require some skill to use them without messing things up really badly. All I can say is, I can try, but not even a computer program will make me an artist.

Here are some of my rockin' Photoshoppin' skills. (Yeah, it's meant to be lame, but I really can't do much better).

Not at all, art is art, no matter what the medium.

However, you should be honest about the medium(s) in which the work was created.

I myself dont like to use computer imagry and effects on my work... if u want to see some of it just go to my website... but anyhoo, I have tried it and just didnt like the blend of medians there are. As for discrediting an artist for using it? No I wouldnt. It is an art form, just more advanced than the days of those ninja turtles!

No... I used it on one peice... and I didnt like it. I dont use the computer for art anymore except to post my new peices.

I use it, I like how my art turns out, then I post it. However I just feel cheap doing it, follow what my gut tells me or what others say?

Go with inspiration and instinct. Do not follow the crowd and be fickle. Comp art is fine, I just prefer a pastel and pencil.

This isnt 100% comp art however. I do draw this art and scan it on the comp. Its just that I use a program to add or enhance the image,...for example i.e. the attachment.

I really like the sixth one down, praise. What did you use to design it?

I also like the fourth one down. To me, it lends itself well to a feeling of despair and mystery.

No, the music lends itself well to a feeling of despair and mystery.

Made me want to kill myself anyway.

My god, what IS that crap?

Praise is the one i tried to post... lol

Any hoo... if you are familiar with afi, then you recognize the heavy influence they have on my recent works.

The first one, started off as a simple sketch... I scanned and colored it using computer and added the lavalite type fx to the wings

The second is just a inking of the total immortal pumpkin

The third and eighth are roses I drew for my ex girlfriend

fourth is an oil of davey havok, lead singer of afi

fifth is an oil of hunter bergren, bassist of afi

sixth is a water color that started off as davey, then i turned into a priest, which is supposed to signify the callousness of religious aspects... hince the diabolical smile and loss of color through out the atmosphere

seventh is a self sketch

the last is something i conceived today, a sorta tribal graveyard aspect that i wish to get tattooed... just posted it so this girl could see it lol...

doo you have a site or archive of pieces you have done aku? i would very much like to see them if applicable
