I'm an eligible bachelor!

I like Italian food, long walks on the beach, Law and Order, Magic: the Gathering, and PlayStation.

(- Steve -)

PS: I'm a guy, in case you didn't know.

Spidey, you are and were way more effective than I am/was. Fact is, I let a series of events get to me enough where I decided that the job simply wasn't worth it anymore.

Don't sell yourself short, guy. Mad props to Spidey.

Don't tell me I just join a web site in it's death spasm.
Everyone just needs to go out and tell people about the site.

Wow, a new member has already likes this site enough to not let it die.

How much effort would it take to advestise this site on other Magic-related sites. I posted a thread on EssentialMagic.com a while ago, yet no one seemed to look at it.

Hell no...that kinda thing draws in spammers and llamas. See MTGnews for the kind of damage that does.

What you`re missing, Ransac, is that they dont actually want this site to get new members.
They like it without all the newbies getting in their way and posting in their conversations.

CPA is long dead as a Magic site, it only exists as a meeting place for a dozen people who used to play Magic.

Or you saying that newbies don't have anything important to add to oour conversations?

No, I'm not trying to make you mad or intentionally cause friction. I'm just saying that if a site is only dedicated to making the "more prominent" posters happy, what's the point in trying to stop it from "dying"? Eventually, the prominent posters are going to quit Magic, which I, myself, have been contemplating for a while, and as a result will stop coming to this site all together. Not wanting new members is basically saying "Hmm, let's just let it 'die'".

Remember, we all were newbies at one point or another.

I'd say that wasn't true. Personally, I would prefer people who want a more intelligent conversation and can confine their randomness to the appropriate places. Newbies can be intelligent and rational people who simply cannot play Magic as well as somone else.

I've met people who were quite intelligent who havn't even played Magic, and recommended them this site. He began coming to it for awhile, and it actually got him into Magic. Sadly, it seems that Magic drew him away from this site... Irony, huh?

l want this site to gain new members. The thing I don't want is a group of Misetings posters whose every few lines are "yer $#*+" and who try to post pornographic pictures with the (disabled for this reason) tag.

I also believe a majority of the site still plays Magic-- but just not in a big way.

I would gladly allow/prefer/hope "newbies" come to the site, but hopefully articulate enough that a curse word doesn't need to be every other word out of their mouth. One of those threads rkoelsch(?) linked to (reply to multiplayer?) was like that and I can't imagine that it was out of the ordinary for that site, seeing how no one else remarked upon it.

Honestly, I think the last new person who stayed and posted stuff was Jigglypuff, although here's hoping Shiro and Benja83 stays...

So, I saw a "guest" reading this thread... How funny it is that 7 years ago the site was considered "dying".... :) And there were probably three times as many active users then...

I don't know that there's a "problem"... but I do think it'd be nice if we had more active users... they sort of feed off each other - you need users in order to gain users...
