It's been awhile but I think 'Cog and Zog' was MEANT to be a sterotypical portrayal (heck, he says it in the beginning). The extreme of the two ends of the spectrum.

Ferrett's article is more conciliatory and either means the two can co-exist or just saying there's no shame in playing a card game. It's also appears to be a real-life anecdote.

In other words, I believe the two are different enough in intent that comparisons cannot fully be made. It's like comparing the Star Wars universe with that of Star Trek...

I think both were well-done.

CT: I don't get your "ellipsis" reference...

Those ARE pretty amusing...

I am fast becoming a fan of FrigginRizzo's style of writing. I might go to StarCity just for his articles (especially now that the Dojo's down, I have time to visit another site). And for some reason, "friggin" just cracks me up... I get a mental image of him having good-natured "exasperations" during play... (did that make sense)?

Plus, he wants to sing a song from Sound of Music! Maybe we can duet on "Do-Re-Mi" ;)

Oh, I think I can figure out some uses for the Squee's Toy text... :)

Yeah, I imagine Friggin' Rizzo being kind of like Yosemite Sam... in that cartoon where Bugs Bunny shows up with a promise of a boatload of money, but deducts a buck-or-so each time Sam flies off the handle.

Frickin-frackin...gard-blarmin switzel-kickin...

Heh.

I love that one.
