So... If we aren't trusting him, then we most definately should NOT head directly to the Throne Room... We are certain to face an ambush. Let's continue to search as we would have without having met him - but be extra cautious.

(Okay - forget the consensus...)

"Now let's see... come on guys..."

(heads back on as normal, ready with the bow and searching for rooms to check...)

** You have to give me a bit more direction than "heading on"... :) Where, specifically? From the map above, you're now in the southern-most room (the one that is cut off at the bottom because it continues on another map

We'll take the door to the east (northern one) - doing all the standard checks.

I'm assuming standard marching order... Taking Roll... Who is still w/ us?

Si'Nat - Elf
Patrick - Mage
Kurik - NPC Fighter
Duchess - NPC Captive

I forget who else is playing... and what their characters are... months of inactivity will do that... :)

There's Rondo, the dwarf; Cugel, the thief; and Bertrem, the cleric.

Don't go by the "P" in the map above - that was room with the statues and benches. You guys moved south to the room with two doors in the north wall (you left and entered through the western-most door when following the old man)

So, the logical next step would be the door to the East down that short hall?

Will take up his old role of listening at the edge of the door before opening it...kinda learned a bit of caution recently...

Bertrem listens at the door and hearing nothing, opens it. You see a corridor running north-south. Your torchlight reveals the set of double doors to the north in the west wall leading to the statue room and a set of double doors to the south in the east wall.

Let's head North for now... We don't know if the mage is an imposter or not, but I have serious doubts as to whether the princess is in the throne room either way...

Heading north, you pass the two sets of double doors in the west wall leading to the statue room and go 40' north until you reach another set of double doors, this time in the east wall. The passage ends 20' to the north with a door in the west wall.

Doing your standard actions, you hear nothing behind the doors nor find any traps on the doors.

Moving up to the west door, standard checks indicate no traps on the door and you can't hear anything behind it.

You open the door and reveal a room that is 30' e-w and 20' n-s, with your door in the top part of the east wall. A window is in the top part of the west wall.

A game table has been set up in the middle of the room. A chess game sits upon it, with a game apparently in progress. Two statues sit on either side of the chessboard. One is of a man, the other a woman. On the north wall of the room is a mosaic map of Haven. The area on the map which represents the palace glows with a red light. The red light slowly seems to be expanding outward, covering more of Haven as you watch.

(Map to be attached later)

Examines the chess game, to see if he may notice anything wierd, if not, will switch both queens with thier kings. (so if these guys get unstoned, they will be really confused! ) :)

Uh oh... The red glow is worsening? Examine this map for any sort of mechanical devices - or any signs it could switch off the glow... I wish I knew a way to dispel the magic on this map - to see if it has any effect on the actual glow... take out a quill and touch the map glow with it, to see if it also disintegrates the way the outside glow does... Also, I think we should consider getting to Haven and warning the townsfolk to evacuate...

You don't find any switches or anything like that.... nothing happens to the quill. You don't know the scale of the map, but it's moving VERY slowly... despite your several days of rest, it doesn't seem to be covering much ground.
