"Well - I say we continue on towards the sound...."

(leads on - bow at the ready, and always watching the edge of the torch light...)

Oversoul

The Tentacled One
*smiles*

But I liked the waltz better. Pay him no mind, lads...

*Pulls out the harp and tries to play the first song.*

As you start walking again towards the music, Oversoul starts trying to play the waltz on the harp. He plays no more than two notes before a glowing, green-ish figure appears in the air next to you. The figure is female and is dressed in a long, flowing robe.

"What are you doing in here?..."

"What a note to pick Oversoul..."

"Can you tell us what we need to do to rid the palace and land of the evil that burdens it?"

"I can. The evil has been caused by the presence of the Eye of Arik. You must play this tune on the harp <she proceeds to play the tune> in the presence of the Eye. The tune will shatter the Eye and put an end to the evil besieging Haven."

"I respectfully thank you for that... May I also ask - can you direct us there so we can do so and free this palace and land of this evil?"

(Lessens the string realizing the seemingly friendly nature of the spirit.. Not that I t would do anything - But I would sure as heck try...)

"Would you be able to direct us there?... What level is it on, or is there a fast way to get there?"

"I'm not sure how much time you have here, so I'll try to be as expedient as possible with these questions...

I recognize your likeness from a tapestry in this castle. Who are you? What is the nature of the connection between you and this harp? Does it have any other special properties aside from summoning you and being a very fine instrument? Do you recognize any of these other items [the statue I picked up and anything Si'Nat cares to let her see at this time]? What is Arik? Is it a particularly clever enemy or a fool? How did its eye arrive here to begin with? This palace has some bizarre traps and we have already encountered enemies with the power to petrify. Do you have any information as to how we should proceed?"

(To Si'Nat) "It's been a long time since I've been here, but I can't imagine the palace has changed that much. The throne room should be in the south, southeast section of the second level of the palace."

(To Cugel) "I am Rowena, once a minstrel of Haven a long time ago. I was invited by the Protectors to join them in their realm. The harp was my instrument during my time here; I crafted it myself. It can summon me for a short period or play some of my tunes. It can also destroy the Eye of Arik, as I said. I don't recognize the statue though.

Arik is an ancient being of evil power. He was banished for his crimes a long time ago in a special dimension, but is always trying to find a way to escape. And apparently he has succeeded in sending a portion of his power to Haven through one of his Eyes - the "ruby" that the dwarves found; that is what has been killing the crops and livestock, summoning monsters to Haven, turning the inhabitants to stone, and creating the red forcefield. There's probably a cleric of Arik's trying to summon him here in the palace.

I don't know about any traps the palace might have, but I suggest you try to find the Eye and destroy it as soon as possible.

Good luck!"

And with that, she vanishes.

Ok, someone with some musical talent carry the harp, when we get there,I will take care of this evil miscreant that worships the god of dogs!

"Well, my friends, I'd say that on the whole, this has been a fortunate event. Shall we attempt to head in the direction of the throne room now, or first investigate these musicians?"

*puts harp away and readies bow*

Agreed. (have been mostly AFK/busy...)

Does the music being played by the musicians bear any resemblence to anything we've heard before? Including the song we are supposed to play to destroy the eye?

No... the tune on the harp is fairly complex and definitely not the type of music that you've been hearing.

Speaking of which, the music has now changed to a mazurka.

Since you don't actually know the way to the throne room yet (at least by your map), you're still gonna have to tell me which way to go, what doors to go through, etc...

(We'll go back out the door we came in and head South 90' to the other door in the same wall - check it and enter... bow ready...)

"Well - there is another door down this way..."

That door (which is actually another set of double doors but that's not an option on the mapping software I'm using) leads to the vast room again.

(Having trouble with attachments, will post an updated map when I can)
