It was probably more of a big deal when you could only mulligan with all-lands or no-lands... I personally don't count them as "lands" but as mana producers when checking my mana curve...

Obviously, we're going to be working with a number of Dual Lands. But, are there any other decent 5-color producers out there? I'm hestiant to add Reflecting Pool, merely due to the uncertainity of what it can create.

TomB: it's not like it's a big deal. I just found it confusing since I couldn't mentally transcend the "says one thing and means another" and would always forget which way it was supposed to be.

Anyway, I'm only seeing 36 non-land cards here, Ransac. But that's fine with me, because it's what I would have gone with anyway. 37 seems a bit too much. I suppose we'll need some basics in the mana base for Land Tax (and it makes the deck more resilient against Back to Basics, etc.) so probably a bunch of versatile lands and the rest will be basics and maybe fetchlands of some sort? We seem to be going with a lot of five-color lands, so here's one of my favorites...

Actually, the City of Brass wasn't on your list - so there are 36 non-lands and 5 different ones.... so 2 of each and 9 duals? or cut one mountain and do 10 duals?

Yeah, I couldn't see it when I made my post (either because he edited the post to include it after I made mine or because I opened the reply window before he posted his--I'm not sure).

As for the rest of the manabase, I'm thinking BigBlue's first option, specifically...

Mountain x2
Forest x2

I exclude Badlands over Plateau because there are more B/R cards in the deck than W/R and you cannot tap a land for both, so it is better to have the black mana and the red mana on two different cards than it is to have the white mana and the red mana on two different cards.

I'll second Oversoul's land suggestion. Next up is to determine who gets to pilot this bad boy. Most of us already have a deck....


KJ doesn't have a deck yet. I nominate him. Additionally, since I don't have a game going on right now, I challenge whoever does pilot this deck to a casual duel.
