So I've been tinkering with apprentice lately and noticed their abudance of old green stompy decks. They're cute in their own little misguided ways. Quick and efficient, I had to build one.....but there was only one..well two problems.
1. I'm a Johnny so it had to be Stompy Ala Reverend Love style.
2. I just wasn't feeling it with green. While yes admittingly Green's probably the premier stompy color, I didn't want a green stompy deck. Probably goes back to that Johnny thing.
Way back when while tinkering I came across Methran Soldier . Said to myself:
Problem was pre-Mirrodin the only good blue booster was Unstable Mutation. Now Post Mirrodin Blue Stompy has access to all kinds of equipment toys.
So without further ado, Blue Stompy:
Creatures:
3 Sage Owl -Flyer
3 Cloud of Faeries -Flyer
3 Spire Owl -Flyer
3 Cloudskate -Flyer
4 Phantom Warrior -Unblockable
4 Escape Artist -Unblockable
4 Metathran Soldier -Unblockable
Creature Boost:
4 Bonesplitter
4 Unstable Mutation
Anti Fog, WoG, Pyroclasm, etc.
3 Foil
4 Force of Will
Lands:
21 Island
As you can see Blue Stompy consists of efficient evasion based creatures. So the ever frustrating chump block isn't a problem here.
While I'd rather draw then stack, Spire Owl and Sage Owl allow B.S. to screen for more creatures.
Cloudskates a 2/2 flyer for 2..not bad.
Cloud Fairies come out for "free".
Metathran Soldier, Escape Artist, Phantom Warrior are the breed and butter of blue stompy. You'll pray for some kind of booster with these on the board.
Foil and Force of Will are both alternate casting cost denial. Blue Stompy's all about racing and we certantly don't want any kind of Wrath of God or such to resolve. Boucning 3 islands doesn't hurt at all..when your most expensive creature is 3.
I've gone 2-1 against traditional based stompy which isn't bad considering it's BLUE! All in all both a fun and surprising deck to play.
FEEL teh Powha Train!

Then most likely went on to build some crappy deck with too many x4 Rare cards.Hmm....interesting clown we've got here...maybe I'll put'm to use later
