Amazing Race 7

And the race is on....I was a bit disappointed by who got the boot...I would have rather seen the two "twins" (yeah, I know they aren't related). I just didn't really feel like they had much personality, where the bikers definitely would have been fun to watch throughout the race.

And say what you want about Rob and Amber, I think it's great that they are on the show. And if the first episode was any indication, they are going to go far...as long as they don't have to open very many car trunks...

But the comeback was amazing. Yeah, you could argue that their visibility is an unfair advantage because people are more likely to help them, but doing stuff like paying extra money to the driver of the van and bus so they wouldn't pick up more people... Arguably unethical, but definitely creative and ruthless. And make no mistakes, Amber will hold her own, but it's all about Rob.

What I think is funny is listening to the other teams..."It's the brothers", "Its the fat ones", "It's....Rob and Amber". And while I can appreciate the fact that some people don't think they should be there because they already won a million...I think the son is a bit more spiteful than he needs to be.

All in all, it's going to be interesting to see how this season plays out.

I haven't seen it and am not sure if I'll be able to... (didn't record it) hopefully I don't have to work again...:(

I don't have a problem with rob and amber being on there... besides - which previous teams "needed" to win the million?

Maybe a charity Amazing Race is forthcoming - million to winners and matching to charity of choice...

Finally saw the episode...

The comeback was definitely amazing. And I don't have a problem with how they're working their "fame"; it's no different from the short girls trying to use their size or people saying there's an emergency (like a death in the family) and they need to get on the airplane... I'm still against them just because they HAVE won a million (effectively, since they're engaged) and don't want them to win...

I think the mother/son and two girls were with Rob and Amber at the last are concentrating too much on Rob & Amber... I mean, they're worried about beating them and getting all stressed out when it's the first leg and they're way ahead of the other 8 teams.

It is too bad the biker guys got eliminated... aside from Rob and Amber, it looks like there's another Jonathon/Victoria-type team already and so far it doesn't look good for the Jonathon-like guy. He's coming off as an oink already. But the last came down to taxis and a footrace which is always good. :)

train, get taping!

Yeah, my wife was also commenting on "the new Jonathan". I don't think he's quite as bad, but he is a bit short with his wife.

Did you see the next episode yet?

Okay, so here's my take...Yes, Rob and Amber have won already (on Survivor) and perhaps shouldn't win again, but I'm rooting them on anyway. I was disappointed that Kris and John didn't win the race in #6, and I don't feel the same way about Rob and Amber (or anyone yet, for that matter) in this one, but I still like their style and think that at this point, they deserve to be doing well....

If you saw this weeks episode, you should know what I'm talking about...Everyone just automatically assumes that the bus that leaves the earliest is the best one and only Rob thinks to question that. They were mad at him for being creative and trying to avoid everyone finding out that information, but he's definitely playing the game more than everyone else at the moment and the fact that many are riding his coattails and still getting upset at him doesn't earn much of my respect for the rest of them.

I was actually surprised at how well he did at stacking the books. Its unclear how far ahead they ended up, but it will be interesting to see at the beginning of the next episode.

There are only a couple of the groups that I really don't like much at the moment, though. Most of them I haven't formed too much of an opinion of. I do like the POW and the beauty queen. He's been through a lot and he's very respectful of her and the fact that she hasn't. I'm really glad they were able to turn things around this time and not stay at the back of the group.

Yep, just saw the episode last night.

I don't want Amber and Rob to win, but definitely admire their (mostly his it sounds like) tactics. Questioning the schedule, bribing the driver to not open the rear doors, pocketing his own money so his "alliance" partners pay for the bribe... all of it's great and will probably raise the bar when the next Amazing Races air as people see how it can be done. His stacking the books was great too - not sure how he did it but it worked. He's definitely thinking.

The POW should have taken the advice from his partner and tried to make one trip, like he admitted afterwards :)

I can't get a feel for the rest of teams though as to who I would want to win right now. The nicest it seems so far are the POW/queen and the black couple, but everyone's really okay. Even the Jonathon-like guy toned way down this episode. So no clear favorites yet. If I didn't have my internal bias with Rob and Amber, it might be them just because of the way they're playing the game.

The Detour challenge was interesting though as the teams had to pay for their own incredients and seemed to put money shortages on a couple of them, especially the monther/son team. I'd like to reiterate your suggestion from the last race and have them put a tally or something to show how much they've spent and have left to see if it determines later actions.

No kidding...especially with all of the comments about "running low on cash". And the older couple who commented about not having enough money and then you find out it's just that they didn't have the right currency...

I saw one episode... not sure which one... and now I don't remember who got knocked off...

It was the one in which Rob talked other teams into not doing the road block...

That he thought of that - extremely smart...

that others did it... extremely disappointing

That was last weeks. Yeah, but none of the people who took the penalty got kicked off anyway, so apparently the challenge took around 4 hours to complete. Especially since the people that arrived next (mom and son) came in second to last.

Anyone see this week's episode yet? Alright, in this particular case, I have to say that Rob and Amber just got plain lucky....But it was still worth it to see the expression on everyone's faces as they boarded the airplane.

And the fact that everyone had to check their luggage, so theirs was the first one off since they arrived so late....If it had been a team I didn't like, I probably would have been cursing their luck. Still, they handled everything fairly capably with the exception of getting psuedo-lost (they made it, so they must have had some idea where they were going).

I'm not disappointed to see the Mom and Son getting kicked off. He was pretty whiney and didn't really have any respect for her.

I got to see the 3/15 episode also... though not the 3/22 yet. I think Rob is still pushing the envelope in terms of what hasn't been done on the Race to date such as using the penalty to his advantage and Phil even called him on it (in a smiling way).

Too bad about the girls, but after such a disastrous navigation error, it's to be expected. Funny how they and Patrick and his mom were in the top 3 way earlier on and fell hard to their current position. :) And it all seems due to navigation problems.

Lynn and Alex also seem too preoccupied in trying to beat Rob and Amber.

Okay, all caught up now. Rob and Amber are a machine and just so lucky to have that flight wait for them :) It was funny to see the other team's faces. Other than that, the race didn't seem to be too memorable. But again, funny how Patrick and his mom were the last to arrive and was one of the top three early in the race :)

Got to see the second hour, which turned out to be another episode. The way CBS was saying it, I thought it was gonna be a two hour, one episode thing. Oh well.

Caught the tail end of the first so know that it was a non-elimination round. Uchenna and Joyce are pretty awesome for bring Meredith and Gretchen clothes, seemingly without being asked also. Of all the teams that wouldn't give them money, I would have expected Rob and Amber and Deanna and Rob(?), although if with another partner, Deanna might have given some.

The accident was a good example of why they need to keep thinking that other people are with them. I'm glad the camera guy is all right.

Not sure why everyone chose to do the food except Rob and Amber and the guys. Especially Meredith and Gretchen... but they didn't come in last, so I guess it's okay :) I'm glad Deanna and Rob(?) got eliminated, his attitude was so similiar to the other guy's in the past Race. Maybe they should team up together :)

Yeah, what was with the injuries this week...I'm also glad the cameraman is alright, not to mention that Gretchen's wound looked worse than it was. I'm also glad the brothers didn't get eliminated. Even though flipping the car was their own doing, I would have hated to see them get eliminated because of it.

Lynn and Alex's attitude reminds me of some of the stuff I see in tournaments or from my kids...I would have won, but... Don't get me wrong, I'm glad to see they stopped and "helped", but the fact remains that this is a race. And while that doesn't excuse a lack of human interest that Rob and Amber unfortunately showed, it was fairly clear that the camerman was in good hands and that anyone else "pitching in" wasn't really adding anything but confusion. I had most respect for those teams that slowed down, rolled down their windows, and asked if everyone was okay. While I was a bit disappointed that Rob and Amber didn't even do that, I understand their opinion that they are still in the game. I think Rob realized that there wasn't anything they could do, but I'm glad Phil chewed them out a bit at the end.

I was also wondering about the Food thing. Rob and Amber nearly came in first because they chose water. The brothers would have been eliminated for sure if they had chosen Food. Ironic that the only reason they chose water was because no one else was doing it, so they figured their only chance of staying in was if everyone had misjudged which was quicker. And it paid off.

I was a bit surprised that Rob and Amber chose to try the fast forward, too. But they didn't seem to have suffered much trying to catch back up. They definitely weren't on their game this week. Following Lynn and Alex like that caused both them and Uchenna and Joyce to miss the first flight.

And yeah, giving clothes was a very nice gesture. Much more important than the money at that point.

Yeah, I saw the first half over the weekend and thought it wasn't Rob and Amber's best show (so far), choosing to go for the fast forward and missing it because of Ray and Deanna. Now that I've seen it, I can see how far R&D fell, from first place from winning the fast forward to being eliminated in the second half :) It was also interesting to see Rob trying to get Amber to make a decision while they were waiting for them to complete the fast forward and Amber not having to answer when R&D DID finish :) It does seem so far that Amber is just "there" and deferring to Rob for all the decisions. Not necessarily bad, but it showed in that part that Rob wanted her to "do something".

Gretchen's wound did look bad but I guess it was just because no one reached here immediately and blood had time to get on her face. And I guess Meredith either couldn't see that well or didn't have anything to put on the flow as it seems strange that he didn't. Terrible mistake in (I think) not reading the clue and realizing that the next clue was in the cave - lucky it was non-elimination. And curious that they chose to do the "more physical" activity and do the caves instead of the tribe challenge, but maybe that was the intent - to do the physical ones to show that they can do them.

Saw Tuesday's episode last night...

Sorry to see the brothers go, they were one of the last "non-irritating" ones. So now we're rooting for Uchenna and Joyce. But the brothers were so wacky! Their end garb was quite different from Alex and Lynn's (who actually did a smart move when they thought they were last).

This episode always showed the importance of reading the clues! Meredith and partner have been lucky so far, but their continued mis-reading of clues is gonna cost them...

Not sure how far the brothers were when they came in last - they only left 15 or so minutes behind the second-to-last couple at the beginning of the leg, although they did stop a couple of times (that were shown) at the wrong water towers. Maybe the goat challenge took a while.
