Just in case you've been living under a rock, WotC decided to do something special (?) for 8th Edition...it will include at least one card from each set printed so far that has never been in a basic set. They're going in reverse chronological order to reveal the cards. So far, they are:

Enrage
Rain of Blades

Gluttonous Zombie
Severed Legion (looks like Fear is black's big new thing)
Elvish Pioneer
Glory Seeker
Naturalize (I think we can safely say that, with this in the new base set, 7th Ed. will become the last set in which Disenchant was printed)

So far, nothing that screams out 'woo-hoo!' to me. But I'm anxious for the older sets...wonder what they're gonna bring back from Arabian Nights (if it's Fishliver Oil, someone's gonna have to die) and Legends (see above, Barbary Apes).

Nobody said they are going to bring anything back. They only said they are going to include at least one card that was originally printed in each set. Wasn't Alladin's Ring first printed in Arabian Nights, for example? It was in 6th and 7th, and could very easily be the AN card in 8th.

Also, I think the inclusion of Demystify marks the end of Disenchant almost more than the inclusion of Naturalize.

There will have to be another AN card than the Ring since the Ring has already been in basic sets...

I really hate to see merfolk go. I hope they don't replace them with cephalids. Fugitive Wizard fits in Merfolk of the Pearl Medallions slot. I actually like most of the white

Suntail Hawk way better than Eager Cadet
Glory seeker is better than Knight Errant(Soldiers matter)
I like Chastise I wonder what it replaces

I stand corrected. I must have missed that part... :D

Still, based on what we have seen so far, it seems like they are making a complete overhaul of "staple" cards, so I'm sure we'll see that continue. Cards that are similar in effect to other cards that have been printed, but with minor differences. Could be interesting all the same, though.

I won't be surprised if the Arabian Nights card is Erhnam Djinn

Oh yeah, and I can't believe they'd kill off merfolk.

At least they went out with a bang, (Laquatus).

Hmm... going back to alpha.... There aren't many which are allowed in the Reprint policy which fit the criteria

Sinkhole? Berserk (now that it's off Restricted...)? Ice Storm? False Orders? Dwarven Demolition Team?

Perhaps it will be the Land Destruction duo of Sinkhole and Ice Storm. Oooh Foil Sinkhole.....

If only I didn't absolutely abhor the new layout...

That's all we need, Psychatog and Berserk in the same T2 environment... :p

But Eb - a lot of inexperienced players would stack all tog abilities, and then berserk... making they're tog not big at all...

"Now... in the hands of a Pro-player..."

Looks decent so far...

I like the Defense Grid idea...

I do know that I don't have to buy any 8th... having all the older versions of cards and what not... :D ;)

I'm missing some expansions but since there's only a few cards from them included in 8th, I'm probably not going to buy any either...

Plow Under is in 8th? Ugh, I hated that card.

There are some interesting choices in here, I think it is a pretty good set (especially if Ruhk Egg and the Dreams are true).

Things I Like:
Lord of the Undead
Phyrexian Arena
Diabolic Tutor
Chastise
Living Terrain
Blinding Angel (very nice)
Bribery
Collective Unc
Hunted Wumpus
Revive (underrated)
Defense Grid
Phyrexian Plaguelord (Awesome!)

There are definitely some annoying cards, but I think they did a pretty damn good job.

Plow Under is awesome in the right situation. Unfortunately, T2 will not be able to deliver that right situation.
