I'm not familiar with Ignoble Soldier, but it sounds like Orgg, where people first thought it was crap. It's probably easier to say than do, but shouldn't removing your opponent's creatures be a good policy no matter what? (To get around the Soldier's drawback). Or give it some evasive ability...
