I was there and that's not how I remember it. "Casual" players have always been around and the term has been used before; this group was just the first (perhaps) to use it as part of a formal organization. But I don't see any hard data that the CPA "coined" it first or that WOTC started using...

The quotes are pretty meaningless since most of them are taken from 14 years ago (or 7). That may have been true back then, but may not be true now. Try to get more recent date quotes to back you up.
