I like the good 'ol D&D series and the latest 3.x system. It really has cleaned it up and made it easier and more intuitive with the d20 system. But of course the old Basic/Expert system will always have a special place in my heart :)

The main difference between Sol Ring and Dark Ritual (or other fast mana effects) is that Sol Ring is a permanent and thus re-usable.

Gamespy Stronghold 2 Preview

I actually tried running a Basic game a couple of years back, you can see what happened here. I kinda modified it a bit just because people weren't used to the "restrictions" that the rules used back then. It kinda died out - never really found out why, but I guess they got bored with it...

I saw it, but to tell the truth, since it had cards that I don't have a lot of and didn't follow the Vintage B/R list, I didn't pay too much attention to it. Interesting twist though. This one is mine I went the "first aggro later control" way :)

And my reply from the other thread is the same: since it produces more mana than it costs without any drawback, it's highly doubtful it'll get removed from the list :)

Honestly, I doubt it. Since it produces more mana than it costs to get out and doesn't have a drawback, it's very efficient (and cheap to boot) and will probably remain on the list.
