Deny it all you like. Deep inside, you know the truth.
Either you don't remember it or you were absent during that whole episode. Long answer, here's the article I wrote: http://www.casualplayers.org/article/get.php?action=getarticle&articleid=870 (sorry it's so long, but my goal was to...
Well, an important part is that I haven't been playing Vintage. So I'm kind of an outsider. It's not that I don't take action because I believe someone else will. I believe that it's not my place. Sure, realistically anyone could write the DCI and complain, even people that have never played the...
Well, I don't know if the DCI said ANYTHING about why Strip Mine was restricted. They often didn't give any explanation for restrictions back then, but I don't believe it had to be both. Had Strip Mine been popular but not effective, there would be no reason to restrict it because it wouldn't be...
But it was the the uncounterable LD and not the popularity that was the problem. Or that's my impression.
Why are you again insisting that it isn't current?
I think I said "not much" or "not really" or something.
And it's too important for us peons to know about?
Well, there's some...
But it invokes the deadly Relentless Assault/Dwarven Pony combo, which is much more devastating than the Pony by itself and is the most dominating engine since Snowfall.
Yeah, those biased players...
But people have been able to use Brainstorm and Merchant Scroll unrestricted for a long time. Why do you say "other" restricted cards? We're talking about an environment where Brainstorm and Merchant Scroll were not yet restricted.
Yeah, I just can't...
I don't. Almost everyone used Brainstorm.
Well, firstly, that's not the case. Like I said, almost everyone used Brainstorm. Gush and Merchant Scroll were pretty common too, but so what? Every format has cards that are more commonly used than others.
When was Factory restricted? I don't know...
I poked around a bit on other sites before work today and while there was some buzz to sift through, I guess I'm not completely crazy. There are definitely active Vintage players that are against this. A lot, actually. They'll get over it eventually, I'm sure.
And why should Mike Turian listen...
So "gaining prominence" means "must be stopped"?
That's true of Brainstorm. It's a 4-of in almost every deck using blue cards. But that's been true for a long, long time. There are other cards that turn up as 4-ofs pretty often often. Duress, Dark Ritual, Force of Will, Mishra's Workshop, and...
Short answer: I was following the format to a minor extent and after this last round of restrictions will probably stop entirely.
Long answer...
Not too much this year because I'd been busy with school. Also, some things kind of turned me off to the whole competitive scene. Specifically, I...
That's a funny image, BPC, but it always weirds me out when the 6,000,000 number comes up. I mean, it should be 11,000,000 or so, right? It's not like only the Jewish deaths count for anything.
That explanation didn't really explain anything. They pretended that the format revolved around Yawgmoth's Will. It's an awesome card, but the decks that use it frequently kill without it and they face strong competition from decks that don't use it. I mean, Workshop decks and Mana Drain decks...
