This sunday, I went to a qualifier for the Dutch nationals, packing GB Elves (don't worry, I won't bore you with a decklist).

First round I was playing a kid who wasn't very lucky. He got manascrewed in both games (one and two land respectively), while I had Vanquisher, Vanquisher into Colossus both games. Round was over in about 10 minutes.
1-0 (2-0)

Second round I was playing Kithkin, which went just as fast. He got very fast draws every time, Stalward into Meadowgrain into Cenn, and I couldn't keep up.
The second game was very close, with a 5/6 Tarmogoyf and a Vanquisher keeping the board, but in the end he just finished me with his Spectral Possession tokens. I was a bit disappointed at this moment, as Kithkin should not have been a very hard matchup for me. It was my own fault though, since I kept mediocre hands, and probably should have mulliganed.
1-1 (2-2)

Third round I got paired against Merfolk, which can be tough, but as long as I keep the lords under control, there was no danger. I got lucky the first game, as he drew way too much mana, having to use his Cryptic Commands as Fog in three consecutive turns (he was at 1 life). When he no longer had an answer, he scooped.
I'm not sure what happened to him in the second game, but he was starting to play very carelessly. He tried to block my Llanowar Elves with his 1/1 Cursecatcher, forgetting about my Pendelhaven. Then he tried to counter my Loxodon Warhammer with a Sage Dousing, but did not have any Wizards in play, and my mana elf gave me the third mana to let the Hammer resolve.
It was elementary after that.
2-1 (4-2)

Fourth round I was up against Red Deck wins. I had to mulligan once in the first game, but managed to stabilize on 10 life, after which my Troll Ascetic picked up a Warhammer and went all the way.
Second game he got himself a turn 3 Magus of the Moon, while I was stuck with a Treetop Village and Mutavault. I had a Slaughter pack in hand, but didn't draw any land in the next 10 turns, and was beaten to death by his Magus.
Third game I got the Trollhammer online again, and he made the mistake of playing Sulferous Blast at the point where I had still mana open to regenerate the Troll.
3-1 (6-3)

At this moment I was pretty happy, if I won the next game I could draw into the top 8, and qualify. When the pairings were posted, a fried told me that my opponent was playing Fae, which is almost impossible to lose after sideboarding.

Round five, Faeries. Game one he started with Ancestral Visions, suspended another one on his third turn, and another one on his fifth turn. This ensured he was able to counter most of my stuff, and eventually just killed me with his Vendilion Clique and Spellstutter Sprites.
Post board I got access to three Squall Lines and two Cloudthresher.
He kept a mediocre hand (which I saw due to turn one Thoughtseize), consisting of four land, Spellstutter Sprite, Mistbind Clique and Damnation. Of course I took the latter.
When I Thoughseized his hand again two turns later, I saw he topdecked two Scions, so I took one, as I had a lot of spotremoval in my hand. Meanwhile I was applying a lot of pressure, as I had a large Tarmogoyf to get him down to two. Then I only had to wait for him to tap out so I could evoke Cloudthresher.
The last game ended when I was able to kill his Fairy Conclave, when he was about to champion it under his Mistbind Clique.
4-1 (8-4)

When I watched the standings here, there were exactly 9 people with 12 points, and one more on 10, meaning that drawing might not be enough. I was 8th at this moment, so I had to be a bit lucky to end up qualifying.
My opponent, who was 7th, did offer me the draw, and I took it, as I thought I had seen him playing Reveillark earlier, which is pretty much the worst matchup I can get.
When the round was over, I heared that at least two of my previous opponents had won, meaning my tiebreakers would improve.
4-1-1 (8-4)

When the results were called, I was pleasantly surprised to ended 7th (out of about 50 people), which is enough to qualify for Nationals. Unless I'm on holiday, I will be playing at Nationals, yay me!

It doesn't matter if this isn't "casual", news about any member is good enough to hear!

Wow. Congrats. Glad to see that one of us is having a nice day.

I just don't think that the term "Relentless Pony" strikes as much fear into the hearts of the opponent as the card name does.

But it invokes the deadly Relentless Assault/Dwarven Pony combo, which is much more devastating than the Pony by itself and is the most dominating engine since Snowfall.

Is there really a Dwarven Pony deck/combo?
What is it? Is it very expensive?
Our readers want to know.....

Wow is this getting off topic and silly. ;)

Either you don't remember it or you were absent during that whole episode. Long answer, here's the article I wrote: http://www.casualplayers.org/article/get.php?action=getarticle&articleid=870 (sorry it's so long, but my goal was to preserve the whole process of the deck's creation, even if it's a bit boring).

Short answer: It's a deck I made in 2004. I use infinite combos to play Dwarven Pony, give it haste, and attack repeatedly in one turn using Relentless Assault. If the Pony is blocked and dies, I bring it back and attack over and over, whittling any blockers down to nothing (unless they have first strike, in which case I bounce or kill them with other cards, give the Pony first strike too, or whatever I want, because this deck makes me godlike), one attack at a time.

I got at least one person here to admit that it was the best deck ever just so that I would shut up about it.

That's a weakling's deck... here, let me show you a REAL MAN'S DECK.

// Creatures
4 Chimney Imp
4 Puppeteer
4 Crawling Filth
// Spells
4 Instill Energy
4 Mobilize
4 Vitalize
4 Awakening
4 Dream's Grip
4 Breaking Wave
4 Pemmin's Aura
// Lands
3 Forest
4 Island
1 Swamp
4 Underground Sea
4 Bayou
4 Tropical Island
Sideboard:
4 Bog Hoodlums
4 Ashenmoor Cohort
4 One With Nothing
3 Sorrow's Path

Explanation: This deck is constructed around the powerful card Chimney Imp. It already has the mighty ability to untap during the untap step, and this deck helps this ability by untapping it during every step of the turn.
Instill Energy makes sure you untap it during your main phase, while Mobilize and Vitalize untaps em even more often. Tidal Bore is able to tap your Chimney Imp to untap if afterwards with another spell. Dreams grip can tap one and untap another one at the same time. How powerful is that? The most important fact is that nearly all of the cards (except the dual lands) are common or uncommon, so you wont have to spend tons of money for it. Bai Kudde won "GP in a hole near the toxic facility" with it, maneuvering through other evil decks based around the powerful Chimney Imp. A short interview follows.

Me : Hey Bai, what do you think about the format?
Bai: It's totally broken. Look, in the finals, we were at game 3, and i just played my Chimney Imp. From round 9 on i untapped it approx. 30 times a round, and only 20 rounds later, i was GP winner. The game is to fast. The DCI really should ban the broken cards like Chimney Imp, Healing Salve and Plains.
Me: Plains? Explain that one to me.
Bai: Well, it only costs you a land drop, it can't be countered, it costs 0, and the cheapest spell that destroys it costs 2:r:. And it produces :w: by simply tapping it. You see how broken this is? I wish i could untap it as often as i untap my Chimney Imp.
Me: Yeah, i see. Is there something else you want to say.
Bai: Yes. Guys! Play Chimney Imp! It's cheap and broken. The powerlevel of this card is the same as the power of Squire, Tobias Andrion and other old broken cards. Play it while you can, it wont be around long before DCI bans it.
Me: Thanks for everything. Good luck for the next GP.
Bai: Thanks! Mad tech rulez!

Obviously people trashtalk the Imp cause they don't want to reveal to the public the card's awesome game-winning 2 card combo. ~Brosba's Fat Orbz

Are you kidding? The Imp can win the game all by itself!

Turn 5: Play Imp
Turn 26: Swing for 20th point of damage

Of course, you could get it out even earlier with acceleration, and multiple Imps are just crazy. In fact, the potential is nearly limitless!

Starting Hand (going first): 4x Chimney Imp, Channel, 2x Black Lotus, Lotus Petal

Turn 1: Lotus Petal, 2x Black Lotus, sac Black Lotuses for black and green, Channel for 19, sac Petal for black, four Chimney Imps
Turn 6: Swing for last 4 points of damage

Honestly, how much better can you get than turn 6? I'm not a big follower of T1 metagames, but surely that's stellar. It's just mind-boggling in a slow format like Sealed.

Honestly guys, watch out! Pimp.dec could be the next big thing on the scene, especially with Lorwyn and Shadowmoor giving us two strong sideboard options, especially with all the pimp running around in the meta! Really, guys, this deck is good...

I playtested it the other day with MWS... My opponent folded after I untapped for the 50th time. He said something about me not knowing the rules... what an *******.

Anyways, this deck is completely broken. I would recommend getting 16 imps before people start realizing the potential of this deck. QUICKLY!!!!

A friendly tip,
-BPC

Ponies? One Pony is all it takes. What kind of sadistic monster are you?

It's usually assumed in polite society that one will not be resorting to a deck like that. And while you would win at first, be careful, because if you run into Rhinoseeker, it will run right over that decklist. Sorrow's Path in the sideboard might help, but any time you don't draw it, you're in trouble.

Other threads you might be interested in...

Snowfall : And remember, this was before the Snowfall deck got its new tech from Coldsnap. Then it was practically unstoppable even when facing multiple opponents. Now it's not even worth playing unless you're also using a Snowfall deck.

Fluc.Ru : Harmonic Convergence went from innocuous to crazy.

Or just search for "Rhinoseeker" which was discussed in several threads.

I see no ponies in either of the decklists posted here. How lackluster...
You know you like it. One Pony is enough when it's a Relentless Pony.

Your playgroup is full of pansies.
