Who's a Vampire - new game

I have been knocking this around for a while, it's a lot like Who's a Werewolf, but players stay around longer.
Tell me what you think and if we should try a game.

Who's a Vampire
1 Vampire
1 Cleric
All the rest are villagers (for now)

The Cleric can not be killed by the Vampire
Each day the village must vote to throw someone into the pool of holy water
villagers will just swim out an not be harmed
The vampire and his/her minions will be consumed by the holy water
The cleric can't swim and will drown

Each night the vampire will create a minion out of one of the villagers
the minion's will not know who the vampire is anymore than anyone else, nor each other, until the cleric is dunked and drowns
to win the village must dunk the vampire in the pool
To win the vampire and minions must drown the cleric and turn the rest of the villagers.
The only way to be out of the game for a villager is to become a minion and then be dunked.

The cleric will know how many villagers voted for the person who is dunked, but not who they are, unless only villagers voted for that person or no villagers..
ie. 6 voted to dunk mooseman, 4 were villagers.
If the vampire chooses the cleric to be turned, he/she will not know that the turning failed and the cleric will know it was tried.

I would like to play as well. Hmm, maybe I'll finally get to be one of the fiendish creatures of the night.

I'd also like to play.. but I have a question.

If we have pool of holy water, why don't all the innocent villagers just jump in to prove their innocence? I understand it creates a good situation rulewise, but it doesn't make sense to me flavorwise..

I'll play. Although I've been really busy lately with work.

Yeah. I was goning to go for the stake in the heart, but that would kill the villagers and I wanted them to surivive to play. Also, anyone who gets dunked and lives could be turned into a minion and is now working to save the Vampire.
Better ideas are always welcome.... like I said, it has been rattling around in my head for at least 6 months to a year.

How about a villager/player gets holy water poured over him, but there's only enough for one person and it takes all day to make a new batch? :)

only problem with that is that the cleric is supposed to be able to drowned cause he cannot swim, how will he do that if we just pour it?

I think Mooseman's proposal makes the most sense, rules and flavorwise. Obviously, if everyone just jumped in at one, the cleric would drown and nobody wants to be responsible for the death of a holy man.

One of the things I'm trying to do with the minions is that they now have to figure out who the vampire is, to protect him and drown the Cleric. Changing loyalties should create some confusion.

Maybe the holy water is spoiled when someone is dunked into it and becomes normal water and it takes a day for the-um, suppliers of holy water to replenish the supply?

Anyway, I'm in.

Alas, someone has seen through my subterfuge to the truth.....
The Holy Water Resource Company is having supply chain problems as their water becomes un-holygienic at each dunking due to the sins of the dunkee......

I'll try to start this next Wednesday with preamble, setting and selecting the (randomly) the vampire and cleric.

I'll try it. The one thing I wasn't sure of is whether voting is through PM instead of in the forum.

I think everyone should have to vote and in public, that's the only way people have of trying to figure out who's what.
