What is tolaria?

I love the artwork on tolarian academy and i like rayne and barrin so i must ask... what is tolaria reallY?

and secondly... where is ertai from?

Tolaria is where Urza lives. There's an acadamy there which trains young wizards to help fight the Phyrexians. One of Urza's early experiments was to make a time machine to go back and prevent the brothers' war from ever occuring, but messing with time was a bad idea and it just ended up covering tolaria with areas of faster or slower time. This is how the regular people on Tolaria live so long, drinking water flowing from areas of slow time acts as a fountain of youth. Barrin is the head wizard at Tolaria, and is Hanna's father. The Weatherlight went to Tolaria so Hanna could get Barrin to join the crew so they could planeshift to Rath. Barrin refused to join them, but Ertai went in his place.

Tolaria is an island, but the academy is built on it.

I dont know where ertia was origianlly from but I do know he was schooled at tolaria academy.
