Yes, it has finally been exposed- I can't live this charade any longer!
I am...

Bob Dole.

:p

I am independent of the bipartisan system and therefore will never have any of my ideal candidates elected.
Yea! The United States is run by two equally daft parties, with the republicans being the slightly scarier variety! Whoo-ha!

MrXarvox: So just vote for the less scary of the two that might actually get elected.

That's what I'll end up doing, even though I can't vote yet and I put down Indep. If there is a significant shift to the left I might vote for a more leftist party, but at least in the case of voting, it's important IMO to vote for the candidates closest to your viewpoints who actuall stand chances of winning.

Simply for the fact that I don't want my beliefs pigeon-holed for what party I belong to. The whole Democrat vs. Republican power struggle is a big waste of time and this country's money, and I want nothing to do with it. Pisses off 2 of my good friends to no end: 1 a uber-Republican staunch conservative, the other is so liberal it borders on revolutionism. They say I ride the fence, I say I'm nowhere near either yard.

I'm more liberal than conservative, but I do have some conservative ideals that I stick to.

All in all, I think independent does sum me up properly. Last election I wanted to vote for Nader, but I settled on Gore b/c I didn't want Bush in the white house. It was a shame, I saw Gore as the less bad candidate.

Sorry to say, I don't care much for politics (or rather, the people running in the elections) and thus do not vote.

I'm very independent.

I vote, but I'm just wasting my time. The rich run this country, to their own benefit, and to Hell with anyone else. If voting accomplished anything, it wouldn't be legal.

If you want to know who runs the country, and how, read Michael Moore, Kevin Phillips, and Noam Chomsky.

I'm not old enough to vote yet but that doesn't matter much as I don't see a point in voting for someone who does not and will never represent me and my opinions / beliefs, and no, voting for non- democratic or republican partys does not help, no one expects them to win, not even themselves. I'd have to say that I am a socialist in my political views.

Sure, there may be no point in voting.
But there also is no point in not voting, except for saving oneself the effort of driving/walking to the polling place and back. (I'm not suggesting people who subscribe to your opinion should care about who's "winning" if they don't want to, and the freedom to decide that it doesn't matter either way does come in the same vein as not voting... but the actual act isn't so futile that it's painful to do it.)
