I voted for "Legacy." It seemed to convey the timelessness of the format with a word that sounds cool. "Comprehensive" is kind of lifeless and neither "Renaissance" nor "Mosaic" really had the right feel to them, in my opinion.

I voted Legacy as well, but I am PO'ed about Raisin's auspicious absence from the ballot.

Well, I guess we can't have Raisin, but that's because WotC is full of pansies...

I just hope that the voters are not so bad. Something like Legacy or Comprehensive would be okay. I don't want to be playing in a format with a name like "Timeless" or something like that...

If Raisin had made it to that poll, it would have won...

Oh well. We're stuck with something boring like Legacy or Renaissance--hopefully (as opposed to something outright stupid).

There isn't anything old school about it. It's our newest format...

For some reason I use that term for stuff like Dark Ritual + Hymn to Tourach + mana burn, actually... :eek:

Well, it's "old school" in that it's filling the void between Vintage and Extended, so you're still playing with "old" cards...

Vintage is another way of saying "old school" though...

So having the new format be called "old school" just doesn't seem like a good idea...

That's true, but that wasn't your reason the first time. I was just saying that just because it's the "newest" format doesn't mean it can't be called "Old School".

Hmm, I don't know if I can explain, but I'll try.

You originally shot down "Old School" on the basis that it was the "newest" format. I said that the "newness" of the format doesn't matter, it uses old cards that most people think "old school". So you turned around and said yeah, but Vintage also is old school so having 1.5 officially called "Old School" isn't so good because it more describes Vintage. Which I agreed with more; that's a more compelling reason not to call the format "Old School" than the format is "new".

Anyway, if anyone doesn't know, the official name of the format IS Legacy.

Legacy is cool - but I don't like it because it matches a set's name...

Mosaic struck me secondly...

Of course - this could just be a hint as to how powerful Saga is in this new "format"...:D

I voted for Legacy, as the other choices weren't great, and it is a good enough name. The biggest problem is that there is already an Urza's Legacy set, but that's not a big deal...

And in case you were wondering, I will be referring to the format as Legacy now, and not Raisin... :(
