A long discussed, and I'm certain mentioned elsewhere here, topic. What is the most powerful Color, using their primary abilites in your opinion? This is essentially from the type I standpoint, as I don't do much constructed Standard at this point.

I think it is between White and Blue.

White can deal individually or globally with every card type in the game with the sole exception of individual lands (unless I'm missing something). Is strong in Protection Creatures & cheap creatures. The Fatties usually aren't cheap, but then none are anymore if they are worth it.

Blue has all the control you'd ever ask for, and enough bounce anymore to counter something it missed the first time. It lacks cheap creatures, but is laden with enough Fatties to suit everyones needs. And who wants a tundra wolf when it means you can counter someones Dbl-Rit Sengir. Blue has library manipulation and card drawing power as well.

Your thoughts? What about the other colors?

Blue blue blue blue blue blue blue blue blue blue blue.

Ask any non-4 or 5 color deck without blue what color they would most like to have cards from in their deck. Almost every single one will say "Blue." There has never been a format in which blue was weak. Blue is undeniably the single most powerful color.

Well, as much as I hate to say it, Blue.

I base this on the fact that blue seems to be universally reviled by those that don't play it - not just an obstacle to be overcome, but actual despising of the color. How often have you seen a post that reads "help me build an antiblue deck"? I've seen this here (and posted helpfully) and on other boards (again, I posted helpfully).

Even jokes throughout Magic, like the old favorite "DCI bans islands" is based on the perception that blue is powerful.

Part of this, I imagine, is due to the greater difficulty in playing blue properly. Personally, I have neither the time nor patience to play the "counter game" or stall you out with Stasis. I suspect many others are the same way, whether they admit it, or not. Those that don't admit it play with countermagic, but use it on the wrong spells, or just let it sit in their hands.

I'll use blue for library manipulation and fat flyers. That's really it.

Now, if you ask me my FAVORITE color... you'll get a whole other post.... ;)

I hate blue.

And yet, it's the most powerful.

I can't count the amount of time that I have spent looking at my huge graveyard, due to counter/control.

A friend of mine made a point a while ago... blue wasn't truly godlike until Boomerang... because that gave blue a chance to deal with things that were already down, while before blue could only counter or control. Boomerang gave blue a second chance for both, and especially for things that could not be immediately dealt with.

Of course, there are ways to get around blue, moreso these days, but it's still a pain, and very much so.

I mean blue...

Blue is power. I hate to say it, but blue is the most powerful out of all 5 colours. If you're playing T1 you get timewalk in there with all the other counters, its just hardcore.

I agree with Gizmo that now adays there are more and more ways to deal with blue, but that just proves how much more powerful blue really is...

I'll never forget the first time someone cast counterspell on me. I said "They make a card like that? That blows." Needless to say I instantly (Interuptly at the time, hehe) fell in love.

For fun I play Green, and to win fun I play white, but Blue is Favorite, I think mostly because it is everyone elses least favorite.

I would love to say White but it just isn't so. Blue's ability to stop almost any spell Makes it the most powerful. But I agree that it is also the most difficult color to play.

Depends on your skill level.

If you're a newbie, that's red, easily. Direct damage and creatures are easy to understand, and while white has great weenies, it has very little in the way of genuine spot removal.

If you have /\/\@D $|<1LLz, it's blue. Contrary to what some think, blue isn't about 'counter everything'. A good blue player has to know not only how to counter, but WHEN to counter. If I'm with Fog Bank, I can afford to let one creature hit the table. If I have seven Islands on the table and my opponent has two cards in hand, and he casts Stone Rain, I let it through. Save your counters for the important stuff. You also have to plan out how you'll be sure you have the right resources, how you'll win without leaving yourself open...blue, especially mono-blue, is one big balancing act. A bad blue player will make you laugh yourself silly as you lure out his countermagic on something useless, then beat his head in with your real spells. A good blue player will make you curse the color forever as he renders whatever strategy you may have useless.

Still...Obliterate. And I quote myself from about a year ago:

"What does a mono-blue player do when someone casts Obliterate? Pray he held onto some Islands in his hand, bend over, and try to relax."

My mate joked that the best thing about IBC was that the best card in each color was blue:
Green: Mystic Snake
Red: Prophetic Bolt
Black: Undermine
White: Absorb
:D
It said it showed if you couldnt beat em, you might as well join em.

There is a cheesy combo with stasis:

Chronatog-Stasis

Then laugh at your opponent as he "desperately" tries to either kill the chronatog to make you take a turn, or kill the stasis, and just protect those, and that...is...GAME!

And Thus I give you (From Memory) my Stasis Deck Which Truly annoys everyone at the table when I play it:

Creatures:
4xChronatog
2xViseling

Instants:
4xForce of Will
2xDisenchant
4xArcane Denial
4xMana Leak
1x(White) Tutor (can't remember name offhand)

Enchantments:
3xStasis (no one will trade me the 4th, go figure)
2xKismet

Artifacts:
1xMox Diamond
1xBlack Vise
1xLotus Petal
3x(other vise which affects all other players, again can't remember the name)
4xHowling Mine

Lands:
4xTundra
4xAdarker Wastes
4XGlacial Chasm (no damage for me, and no upkeep either)
4x(W/U land which doesn't untap if used for colored)
8xIsland

Have fun.

Oh, and the name of the deck is Go(as opposed to Draw, Go).

Actually BigBlue, a better name for the deck would be "Go Crazy." :D

As for the superior color, while I play White-Green, it has to be Blue. This is for all of the reasons that have been listed above, and the fact that people who aren't playing Blue hate to face Blue.
