4 x Dark Ritual

4 x Abyssal Specter
4 x Rackling

4 x Blazing Specter

3 x Void
4 x Scorching Lava
3 x Urza's Rage
2 x Tsabo's Decree

11 x Swamp
9 x Mountain

This is a basic B/r discard deck. It seems pretty good to me, but is of course unrefined. Yes, Void is that good with Unmask, Decree, and Addle. Maybe even better.

Chilling Apparition could fit in here, and maybe even a "tutor" strategy.

not bad, but i have to say that the only way to play discard is to play t1. all that i have to say is MEGRIM. i had a discard deck that had 4 megrims, 2 bottomless pits, and 4 hymn to tourachs. it was a 45 card deck that always dropped the bomb. it was hella killer. but oh no, then my friend had to start playing his stupid fu***** elves bull****. pissed me off. well anyways, if you're going to play discard play t1, or you'll be a disgrace to mtg players everywhere!!

Cool.

I think you're pushing it too hard on the discard though. Tsabo's Decree, Void, Addle, Unmask, and Stupor? You really like to rip your opponents hand huh? I love it!

In an environment where Blastoderm is seen very often, Chilling Apparition would make a very good add-on to any Black deck; with or without discard. In your case, it's even better, since it's fits the theme.

I think Void is great myself. It could pickout those annoying little creatures that dare to stand in your face; those creatures I dislike; those creatures with Protection; those creatures that are named "Blastoderm".

May I suggest Rath's Edge? Hey, those little Gliders are really annoying. Rath's Edge could atleast give you one more option against them. Plus, it's not that bad itself. It doesn't come to play tapped like most non-Basic lands in T2, and it does add some kind of mana, which is only colorless, but still! Consider Rath's Edge, and tell me what you think.

I think the point is to make Type II discard deck. Sure you can use cards from Type 1 like Hymns. You can also use cards like Demonic Tutor and Hippies. In other words, the card pool is VASTLY increased as opposed to the Type II card pool, so of course there are more, perhaps powerful, cards better suited.

The Chilling Apparitions have to go main deck. They're too good against Blastoderms to be ignored, AND they usually force your opponent to have a blocker handy.

I would think that Tsabo's Web would be better for your sideboard? Unless the metagame suggests that Elves and Rebels are going to breed like rabbits at the local PT.

And you wouldn't want to run at least 1 Disrupting Scepter?

Lastly, there isn't a B/R deck I can think of that wouldn't want to play with Sulfurous Springs. AND Urborg Volcano.

All the cards that glance at their hand have synergy. If I Addle you, next turn when I ritual Void you, I know what number to say. That's why Unmask, Addle, Void, and Decree all are here. Decree has nothing on Void though. So -1 Decree, +1 Void. Then -1 Decree, +1 Mountain. Better mana.

I don't need the Scepter, because the Specters do the job of repeating discard.

Now I'm not sure what this deck beats, and what beats it. But it looks cool. That's what counts, ja?
