Type 2 Kitty Deck

A few interesting points came to me while discussing the Blistering Firecat on the Single Card Strategy forum, and they seemed like good ideas, like using the Doom Cannon after attacking with Firecats to squeeze one more use out of them, but soon realized that only four uses is a bit weak, so I added more Cats. So I decided to create my very own Type 2 Kitty deck (on Apprentice):

2 Crazed Firecat
2 Coat of Arms
2 Doom Cannon
2 Firecat Blitz
2 Riptide Replicator
2 Savage Firecat
3 Grafted Skullcap
3 Words of War
4 Blistering Firecat
4 Browbeat
4 Flame Burst
4 Grim Lavamancer
4 Pardic Firecat
22 Mountain

Adding Pardic Firecats gave me a good reason to add Flame Bursts, and Grim Lavamancers are used to gain one final usage after the attack/sacrifice of the Cats. Riptide Replicator was added for even more sacrificial Cats, but Firecat Blitz was too mana-intensive to justify using with the Cannon, so it's main use is to break stalemates or just overrun your opponent for one final kill. The Words of War/Skullcap combo might give this deck some problems, so I might scrap the 6 cards for more mana/creatures/enhancers.

Look!!!...

It's COAT!!!...

"You have done well my young Coat abuser... Though I am no longer the Coat Master I used to be, I am proud that the force of COAT has found it's way to you..."

I do think the Sharpshooter would be more effective in this type of deck than the lavamancer though...;)

Tried this deck a few times...WAY too slow...I'm just gonna use Doom Cannon on Goblins.

...Wonder if I should Coat the Goblins...I'll playtest it.

I agree with train. I think Goblin Sharpshooter would be pretty cute, especially since you have a lot of ways to sacrifice creatures. Imagine this scenario:

You have a Goblin Sharpshooter in play.
You play a Firecat Blitz (X = 7).
All 7 kitties attack (13).
All 7 kitties die at the end of turn and 7 "Untap the Sharpshooter" go on the stack.
You tap the Sharpshooter (12).
You untap and tap again (11).
You untap and tap again (10).
You untap and tap again (9).
You untap and tap again (8).
You untap and tap again (7).
You untap and tap again (6).
You untap and tap again (5).

Then you finish with a few Flame Bursts to the head. Neat, no?

I'll school 'em for you Puff...

Actually Eril...

Tokens do go to the GY... They also tigger abilities that check for creature going to the graveyard... But, a State-based Effect then effectively removes them...

as per CR:

216. Tokens

216.3. A token in a zone other than the in-play zone ceases to exist. This is a state-based effect. (Note that a token changing zones will set off triggered abilities before the token ceases to exist.) Once a token has left play, it can't be returned to play by any means.

Exactly. Which was one of my favorite things to do in my momo-black beatdown deck with Lord of the Pit/Breeding Pit. I'd sac the thrull tokens & use Soul Net to gian life.

Thanks for taking care of that for me. I was too busy defeating the Red Wings at NHL 2k3. Final score: Detroit 2, Carolina 4.

No prob...

Are you a Canes fan???

I'm from Colorado, but I like the Canes more than the Avs. Irbe and Weekes have been solid in goal for the Canes and I think they can go to the Cup finals again.

They're also off to a decent offensive start... Their defensemen need to play better though so the goalies aren't working so hard...

I was originally an Avs fan, and still like them... but I also like the Stars... too bad the Avs and Stars aren't consistent.

Firecat Blitz explicitly says 'Remove (the tokens) from the game at end of turn.'

But I could sac the counters before the turn is over, right?

Well, that rules out any Type 2 ways of sacing the tokens, but that'd be awesome with Bombardment in 1.5.

Hold on there now...

The Train is working for you... *Fizzle!...*:

Okay - here's your options(for solid red...)...

Airdrop Condor
Color= Red Type= Creature - Bird Cost= 4R ON(U)
Text (ON): 2/2, Flying. ; {1}{R},Sacrifice a Goblin: ~this~ deals damage equal to the sacrificed Goblin's power to target creature or player.
* Seriously - this is the bomb... literally, well anyway... Use the sledder to pump up a goblin and then sac it to the airdrop... Each goblin going to the graveyard triggers the sharpshooter...

So you have something like this... 4 goblins(1 a sledder), airdrop, sharpshooter: attack with all the goblins(shooter may be included) and the condor - 6 damage, then you sac 4 goblins to the sledder targeting the shooter..., so you ping with the shooter 4 times, sac the goblin to the airdrop for 5... That's 15 in one shot... shock, flameburst... You can do it a bunch of ways... Basically - the airdrop/Sledder is the goblin bombardment - it just takes 2 cards...

Now if you still wanted to run kittens - they would just be more triggers at the end of turns for the shooters...

I think this deck sound really viable.. And 2 shooters in play is just Machine Gun Action!!!...

Magma Vein
Color= Red Type= Enchantment Cost= 2R OD(U)
Text (OD): {R},Sacrifice a land: ~this~ deals 1 damage to each creature without flying.
*This just makes a bunch of triggers for your shooter... just make sure he's pro-red... through something like benevolent bodyguard or crown of awe
*******************************************************
Benevolent Bodyguard
Color= White Type= Creature - Cleric Cost= W JU(C)
Text (JU): 1/1. ; Sacrifice ~this~: Target creature you control gains protection from the color of your choice until end of turn.

Crown of Awe
Color= White Type= Enchant Creature Cost= 1W ON(C)
Text (ON): Enchanted creature has protection from black and from red. ; Sacrifice ~this~: Enchanted creature and other creatures that share a creature type with it gain protection from black and from red until end of turn
*******************************************************
Goblin Sledder
Color= Red Type= Creature - Goblin Cost= R ON(C)
Text (ON): 1/1. ; Sacrifice a Goblin: Target creature gets +1/+1 until end of turn.

We'll send you the bill through the mail...

;) :p
